TurtleBoy Hi.I have 40E 2017.
On my car battery failed 2 times.
One of the modules was replaced.
Currently Ista shows me that battery about 60% .
Where did you read about 70% .Where do see written in the warranty?
Can you point me there?
Thank you

Here is the wording from the i3/i8 from 2017 and likely what the 70% idea is based on.

The wording about capacity was removed from the 45e warranty and I would assume the 50e also.

True but I don't think this applies to 45e because as I pointed out before my friend with 40e was told by the dealer that they would only replace failed battery modules.

That is why I noted that the capacity wording was removed from the warranty.

The best you can do is ask the dealer to test the other modules to see if any of them has failed so they can replace them.

In case of I3 and I8 and may be other future Icars this 70% statement is correct.
In case plug in hybrid I check the warranty couple of times and was asking dealer as well as BMWNA .BMW will replace only modules which is failed.
On my car Ista shows that 3 modules was failing during the last almost 7 years and BMW of Tenafly was replacing them .
Which I can see in the ISTA by serial numbers(which has year).
Currently ISTA shows me that I have about 65% of the battery when it fully charged.
What I found in the warranty that BMW dealer can check your battery for free of charge.
That's why I was asking TurtleBoy if he saw anything related 70% in warranty books for US.

I have asked a dealer for a battery test to get it's useful capacity (with 17.1 being 100% when new) due to complain with a lower range. They did, and reported 95% after a year of ownership.

When I brought in a car few weeks ago for service, I've asked for a battery test as well, to get % degradation over time. What I was told by the dealer is that they won't test the battery unless there are errors/issues reported.

you don’t need to ask the dealer for this info. you can get it from your vehicle telematics via the CarData report. I request one every 3 months
