40i: M Sport design with or without M Sport Professional?

Curious why people would not add the M Sports Pro pack, as the M Design makes the window trim and large front bumper black, but leaves the grill and exhaust tips silver. Is it because some have a preference for the contrast vs the “completeness” of everything blacked out? Which colors does this work well on? I see a lot of BMW’s with a silver grill and black window trim so it must be common, just wondering how those feel from a cosmetic perspective. M Sport Pro also adds the sports exhaust which I can understand some not wanting for noise reasons, though it’ll be quite muted on a B58, and I would think is a desirable option. Thanks for sharing your preferences!

When the G05 was introduced, "Extended Shadowline Trim" became a thing.

It was a bargain $300 option.

This is pure speculation, but it seems like 80% of the G05 M-Sports I see on the road have that option.

Enter the G05 LCI, and BMW has smartly bundled the Extended Shadowline with the painted brake calipers in the M-Sport Pro package.

Personally, the Extended Shadowline is a must have for me. The painted calipers...I can take or leave them. But if the only way to get EST is with the M-Sport Pro, well then BMWUSA, you got me and some extra money.

M-Sport Pro is a super easy money grab for BMW, and the capitalist in me says good for them.

you don't only get painted calipers, the brakes are upgraded aswell
that's actually my main reason to go for the M-Sport pro pack.

There is a downside to those brakes...lots of brake dust.

I believe M-Sport professional adds a stiffer suspension. The physical springs are different. Whether this is a plus or minus is personal preference.

No, the M-Sport Pro package is just cosmetic plus Exhaust.

Pretty great for the price. It only costs about $500 more for the package if you price the illuminated kidney grill and M sport brakes as separate options, which is necessary if you don’t select the package.

This and that we really wanted the silver kidney grille, a key feature we had on our first BMW >40 years ago.

While we ordered almost any other package, this one we on purpose decided against.

At the end it’s a personal preference and taste decision and not a practical one like the DAP.

Love the nostalgia! Definitely agree it’s personal preference. Did you get the car in the M sport design and just skip the M sports professional package or is it all the standard X line with matching silver window trim?

No, the MSport differential is only available on the M60i and it is standard.
