The noise situation with the 2024 X5 50e (with 21" RF) is not in your imagination. We have had it since we picked the car up in late April. After the delivery, I test drove 2 other 50e's with 21" RFs from different tire mfgs. There was no difference. Service foreman and a BMW corporate rep. both drove the car and acknowledged the noise (much louder on the driver side especially on poor roads) but claimed that is the way the car is. Not an acceptable answer. After contacting BMW corporate several times, they finally agreed to put the vibration dampeners on at no charge. There was basically no difference. The service foreman did a temporary switch with 20" tires and claimed there was no reduction in the noise. At the outside chance I requested a buyback on the vehicle and was turned down. This is obviously a design defect since the brand of tires makes no difference. BMW corporate is hiding behind "all the 50e's are like this" - the doesn't make it right or acceptable. Unfortunately this is our 1st BMW in 35-40 years (should have stayed with MB and waited for their 450e Hybrid) and probably our last BMW due to the way corporate and the dealership has handled this. From General Sales Mgr we got the typical line "none of our other customers have complained about noise" My response was "would you like me to show you the posts online?" BMW Corporate, the dealership and the car have been a huge disappointment due to this issue. Will probably trade out on a MB 450e Hybrid and take the loss. Have already talked one friend into canceling his order due to the noise situation. It is truly unfortunate that BMW Corporate refuses to stand behind their product and make things right.

does anyone have audio recording or video of this noise issue? one of my main reasons to get an X5 is of its quietness.... if this is a major issue, its a deal breaker for me.

I also have a similar noise, like described above it’s like the resonance you get from going over a bridge paved with cement, but constant. Whenever I lean forward and put my head near the steering wheel the noise goes away, but in that normal driving position it’s quite pronounced.

I have 21" wheels with the Dunlop RF on my 2018 X5 and its noisy driving over cement road surface. Asphalt is fine though.
I'll get the 50e next month. I also ordered the 21" wheels. I expect it to be no different. |

Same here...its a deal breaker. My 2020 X5 with acoustic glass is really quiet. I expect the same in a new 50e

I can rent an X5 or X6 for a day on Turo for $1-200. If the dealer gets nowhere I may get one that's on 19's and temporarily swap the rims and see what happens. Seems nuts but less risky than buying new tires. |

As to this piece changed driving behavior, I kind of doubt. In theory, where this piece get installed, it become unsprung weight. Typically, the less the better. |

I have the 2024 X5 50e with 20" Continental run flats. I am totally disappointed with the road noise. I've driven Lexus vehicles for the past 25 years. My RX350 was extremely quiet. The only reason decided to buy my first BMW was because Lexus only offered a 4 cylinder engine in the 2024 RX350. I have been able to live with the multiple issues with the electronics and the less than stellar customer service at my dealership...but the road noise should be a major embarrassment to BMW.

Just got my car a few weeks ago and it suffers from this same "resonance/droning" that everyone's complaining about.
I'm on 21' wheels w/ Hankooks. A couple of observations: The lease I just returned (2020) had acoustic glass and was SIGNIFICANTLY quieter than my lci. Although I ran non-RF's in the winter, I did run RF's in the summer (Pirelli). This car also had 21's. My 2020 also had DHP, and my lci has full air suspension, so I expected there to be little difference in overall noise, and I couldn't have been more wrong. My 2020 also had the acoustic dampers on the control arms, but my new car does not, so I'll at the very least order these and install them. The true test from here will be my switchover to non-RF's for the winter, in combination with the dampers. It's unbelievable how intrusive this resonance is while driving, on all but the smoothest roads. I'm amazed at the difference in overall interior noise between the two model years... |

Is the noise people are complaining about immediately apparent on a test drive? Any particular speeds or road conditions that trigger it?
I drove two 40i LCIs (no 50e available). One had totally unacceptable road noise and one was fine. I chalked up the road noise to the 22"s on the first one but am now wondering. |

Whilst I don't have a 50e, I do have a '22 45e with the same tires you do, and it's incredibly quiet. The only time it's loud is when the roads are bad (construction zones, etc.).
