So What Will The Next X5 Look Like?

Well, I've been pondering this question a while and a post made by "Spencer518" to my post titled "45e Owners! Here here!! What's Your Upgrade Path?" So, quoting Spencer518: "After 3 years with the 45e and loving Electric mode, I'm going full EV for my next vehicle. Probably still 2 years out from making a move, but I'm contemplating Polestar 4, Rivian R2S, Q6 Etron or maybe the next gen X5 Electric model.)"

So, with that, I sort of wonder what will the next X5 will look like? That said, here is my thought on what BMW has done in managing replacements for the X5.

Although the E70 chassis replaced the E53, if we look at the replacement of the E70,...we'll see that the F15 actually aligns more as a replacement for the E53. And taking this one step further, no one can deny that the G05 looks to be more of a replacement for the E70 than it does for the F15.

So, it is my guess that the replacement for the G05 will likely follow the design flow of the F15!

Thoughts!

Expect the next X5 generation to be evolutionary and not a revolution. Also highly unlikely that it will be a warmed over copy or parallel to any prior model. I doubt if BMW is foolish enough to allow a very small number of old school traditionalists to influence future design which is changing rapidly across the auto industry.

So, based on previous X5 models,...BMW was "stupid"! I mean, the photos don't lie.

In some of those earlier models, there's a creeping resemblance to an AMC Pacer. We don't need to go in that direction.

I just hope they can keep the non-electric versions alive.

They definitely will however likely no V8. For the G65, ICE, Hybrid and EV will use the same platform.

This looks great but unfortunately quite dated and don't expect the next generation of X5 to be a copy or close parallel.

Agree,...BMW must know that we really don't want the interior of a BMW to look like a freak'n Tesla,...or any other manufacturer's vehicle!

Giveth us our Knobs, Buttons, and Switches,...we go'eth to a manufacturer that will.

Seems that the buttonless LCI X5 is selling very well. Haptic screens are showing up across all brands. Don’t have to like it but we must get used to it.

You are quite correct. The LCI is selling very well whether the complainers and whiners know it or not.
Touch screen controls are in fact being rapidly adopted across the board.
Gotta love the guys who pick up their marbles and stomp home.

I hear ya! The 50e is already making more power than the 50i of the F15 chassis! That said, BMW could easily release a Hybrid X5 with S58 with some 650hp to 700hp! If they were to do that,...a lot of folks would be quite Happy!,...and a lot of folks not so Happy!

If I'm not mistaken the next gen won't make use of the Neue Klasse platform.
Probably an evolution rather than a revolution.

The top trim will be a hybrid, looks like M60e will be the designation. Its will use the B58 but I guess combined will be in the mid 500s.

"M60e"!,...where are you seeing this?

I was thinking the line-up would look like this:

F15 - 40e
G05 - 45e
G05 - 50e
G65 - 55e
G65 - 60e (LCI)

It is info from ynguldyn: The next generation of X5/X6/X7 (G65/G66/G67) will likely lose the V8 engine. Instead, M60e xDrive (same B58-based powertrain as G60/G70 60e's) will be the top model.

Exactly why there’s a M60i in my garage. The V8 is a dinosaur. The LCI was a major refresh and should be around for several years. The next redesign will lose the V8. Even the X5M and Porsche Cayenne Turbo GT will be hybrids. All just my opinion.

I would imagine that the same hybrid setup in the XM (and in the upcoming M5), will be what gets put in the next gen X5M Competition.

My dissatisfaction with ID8 and an all-screen layout is the loss of the driver's pod. I don't mind the all-touch. I drive a current gen Audi A6 with all touch, but I still have a hood/pod, so I'm used to touch. I like having the pod. Just makes it feel like a car. Having the dashboard with a screen bolted on just doesn't look as good as a driver side pod.
