BTW, I do not like the OK tag so I use this custom weather tag that seems to look ok on my black sapphire G05.

Anyone have the dimensions for the G05 screws? I’d like to get spanner screws for a little bit of added security. I’m waiting for the frame to come to see what head diameter the screw caps need as well.

The frame works perfect and the cover caps are rather hard to figure out how they open so that might be enough security. I like to put a couple strips of black foam weather stripping on the rear of the plate to prevent any vibration buzzing from the audio system or cosmetic damage.

During a month of driving on the open road, one of the car washes ripped one of the black caps off of the frames shown in #23 & #25 posts.

What is the best way to address this?

Don’t go through automatic car washes. Seriously, they are evil on your new paint work (I know I preach this a lot on the forum) Regarding the cap being ripped off, my guess is there is too much impact happening with the rollers whipping between the rear tail lights. That’s really bad and could possibly damage the rear wiper and spoiler/over hang. Those caps are really on there tight and don’t protrude enough to be caught on anything unless there is a lot of impact pressure around it. This would be another sign to avoid those car washes with our new G05 body shape.

Actually the top caps are never secure. I have 2 that have to be secured after ordinary driving.

That’s a different issue. Have you tried to see if screwing in the screw below the cap harder or less to see if the tension on the changes? Sometimes this helps. Mine snap closed very tightly. I would use double face tape like you would use for emblems and stuff it inside the cap so the top sticks to it. I had to do with on my Power Wagons plate caps. It works well.

Use this tape.

I'm using WeatherTech's clear cover frames. They cover the plate(s) and provide a gasket seal so that they stay clean, The frames have a nice look as well as offering color options. I highly recommend them.

I've had the BMWCCA one on my last 3 BMWs. I buy a new one each time I got a new car.

Is that the exact size of foam you purchased? thanks

I guess I’m just going to order some M5 x 8 spanner screws and if the heads are too big I’ll file them down while spinning in a drill chuck. That should work as long as the heads aren’t too small.

The frame is taking forever to come. It’s in town but won’t be delivered until Tuesday for some reason.

Lows, Walmart, Home Depot, etc.. has it. It’s cheap so get many sizes and keep it around. They sell it in a light grey color and black. Don’t get the felt, rather stick with the rubber foam.

My local dealer parts department wanted to sell me another new frame to replace the one plug that was decapitated. He then said search online and I am clueless about the correct keyword or part number.

Any help on that score?

I was on eBay this morning looking at G05 accessories and found license plate hardware with anti-theft fasteners and screw covers. Has anyone tried these?

In VA we are required to have front and rear plates. I’m planning on going with Carbon fiber M bracket for rear and BMW CCA bracket for the front. Sound good?

I have arctic gray, Msport 40i with Tartufo Marino. Picked it up on Tuesday and Love it!
