Curious to know how folks are finding this new dashboard "design" on the LCI X5?

To me, it's reminiscent of the advertising stickers they slap all over a Spirit Airlines A320 (I've seen from pics; I'd only fly Spirit in an emergency ).

As one who prefers subtlety and doesn't buy clothes with the brand name/logo on them, I find the <<<<\\\\||////>>>> X5 to be hideous. Even worse, that thing lights up...

Rented an X7 LCI for a few days earlier this week. The dash lettering is definitely kind of tacky in my opinion

Personally I hate it. It looks cheap. I had a 2 series while my 3 was in for a rental and it had similar on the dash. The whole time I had it I just kept thinking “this is tacky” so I couldn’t imagine it on a 70k+ X5

It's moronic. Maybe nice for the Asian kitsch market but definitely not my style.

Would this be something that you can replace with something else? Or is black Gorilla tape the way to go

Agreed, the ///M is better...a shame the M-Sport package still gets all the Excel formula characters + X5.

I'm with you on subtlety though. I don't think I own one piece of clothing with a logo that's visible, and if I do, it's 1"x1" size or less.

I also cannot understand peoples obsession with getting additional badges on the exterior even if they're M badges. The less badges on a car the better.

Hmm, when I drove the i4 M50 during BMW Performance Days last year,...I thought the new iDrive Screen and System worked well for the new i4. Now, with that said, I'd be lying if I said that I preferred the new iDrive setup over the current X5 iDrive System.

As for the overall new interior styling,...well, I look at it like this. If millions can come to love the BMWs from "Bangle Butt" era, they can come to love the new interior styling,...or at least "like" it,...a little! Also, on another BMW styling point,...take the new hog-nosed G80/G82 M3/M4,...many puked over its looks,...yet many more drool over their performance as a package. So, this leads me to think some are thinking,..."I can't see the "Grill" while driving it".

Now what does this says about the general BMW buying public? It's simple, they (we,...or at least most of us) care about "Performance" over all other characteristics and capabilities of a BMW!

Lastly, now imagine if Pontiac had added some 'cayenne spiked sauce' to the Aztek! LOL!

They will probably offer a more elegant, unbranded version as part of a package. For $1500 maybe.

Not only does it light up, its like flowing when you get a phone call or when theres a notification.

Makes me very glad I'm getting the M variant.

I think you can at least shut off ambient lighting for that bar though. But not sure if you can selectively shut it off (i.e. keep all the other ambient lighting on).

If I had a base X5/X6 with that light bar, I'd probably look for ways to cover it up with some vinyl wrap.

I think we need to start a online petition for BMW to remove that <<<<>>>X5 abomination from all cars.

Or at least distribute free dashboard colored masking tape to everyone

It's to distract you from the massive screen just plopped precariously on the dash, and the fact that you have no buttons, lol.
