Looks like it'll have to be the Black Marino for me.
(which I'm guessing you'd have to upgrade to Marino anyway, if you're going to get the ventilated comfort seats) ... and add the massage feature |

Given how much the ventilated seats suck in the F15 I will stick clear of it on the G05 without a doubt next go around. No doubt BMW didn't change a thing. Until it's AC vice ventilated it's not worth the loss of comfort or extra cost.

1. Comfort seats 2. Ventilated seats 3. Massage feature (note that they aren't always combined into all three) People seem to give wide varying experiences and opinions. As I have yet to own a BMW with any of these, my experience is limited to what I've had, trying out dealer vehicles. Generally, reading various forums, what I'm finding is: 1. Comfort seats: just about everybody universally loves these. 2. Ventilated seats: mixed reviews. As you point out, Maverik259, these only blow ambient cabin air, and are not hooked up to A/C. So for a car that has been parked in the sun/heat for some time, it will blow ambient hot cabin air until the cockpit is cooled down. My limited experience so far, is that this is still useful to create some ventilation underneath the rear end and behind the back, preventing the "sticky back to leather" feeling. Even more useful when wearing shorts, skimpy clothing, thin materials like linen, or making longer drives. Some people dislike the look and/or feel of the ventilation holes in the fabric, or have reported reduced durability. Some think the ventilation operation is noisy. 3. Massage features: mixed reviews. Some people find it annoying. My wife says she can't even feel it working. (possibly because of some nerve neuropathy) Some people love it. It seems the biggest point here is that it's not intended for a full deep rub-down massage, but rather to keep the body in slight continuous motion, preventing that "stiff and aching" feeling after sitting too long. Most useful for longer drives. Some people report less seat cushion padding in seats with ventilation and/or massage, and that they therefore feel that the seat is harder and LESS comfortable, not more so. Me, having felt all three features on a 640i GT the other day, I loved them. Very versatile and comfortable comfort seats. The ventilated seat air was small but nice, keeping the backside from sticking to the leather. When the car was stopped and turned off, I could hear the ventilation, but otherwise the sound disappeared into the background while driving and/or listening to music. The massage was awesome. I wasn't looking for a deep massage, but having some muscle and lower back issues, even on the short-term, it kept the body in motion and felt really good. And I'm a big, tall guy. My concern would be if these same features are implemented differently on other BMW models, and if a new G05 would be disappointing. Last edited by Wild Blue; 06-02-2018 at 09:12 AM.. |

I expect the G05 to have very similar seats to the 640GT.

Of course vernasca has nothing to see with merino, i had a full merino on my F31 but currently if you want an x3 with black interior then you don't have merino available... The fiona red comes a little of black but i like full black interior.. Wish they had made a black one available on the G01

I've never stuck to my leather seats while wearing clothes but you also have to keep in mind that seats etc are different in nearly every car. What's comfortable or useful in one car isn't in another. Hence the X5 AC. But yes the comfort seats are a must whether you have ventilated seats or not. I recommend borrowing a car for a 24hr yes drive before buying anything. A 10 min test drive isn't gonna show you a whole heck of a lot about how comfortable a car is or functional. I don't find the comfort seats less comfortable but very also never find an X5 with nappa and not have vented seats. So I don't have anything to compare there.

It's similar to Dakota, much closer to Dakota than to Napa.
