I'd own the F15 in m sport with 21 inch wheels, but when it comes to design cues, it pails in comparison to the e70 and now the g05. I'm going a different route next anyways, going with an LR4 landmark and im sure some can probably diss that design easily. Personal preferences are definitely preferences but at the same time, I see a lot of people trying to compare this to a durango or kia or hyundai and that is just effing pathetic.

REAR - Lack of imagination.
FRONT - Scarry. Finally, the headlamps are nice but eclipsed by the grills that look out of place and terribly kitschy. We fix this, we destroy that... Oh man... |

IMO G05 looks like a good overall redesign (interior, exterior front and side profiles). Adding to consensus though that G05 rear tail lights could've been done better. I like my distinct "L" shaped F15 tail lamps which clearly stand out as an X5, and not an X3 or X1 from afar.
In the future though, I will likely replace with the new Porsche Cayenne.

You will not find an every day car out there in which everyone loves every aspect of it's design, and the truth is every car will have elements which resemble another car.
The final design for a production car is bound to government regulations, crash safety standards, tech kit implementation, supplier, tooling, production etc. And considering all that I think the F15s is a very nice looking SUV. But the G05 really takes it to the next level. |

I was looking back at the original comparisons. I chuckle because to me pretty much all WHITE SUVs look incredibly similar. That is why everyone needs to get carbon black with the m sport package and 22" rims. That will pop

So the E70 has really been growing on me lately, I always liked it and we have an F15, but looking back it was a damn good looking SAV.

I'll take the interior of the new with the exterior of the old. Having spent some time on both now, the overall comfort and space is pretty much the same in both, with the F15 having adjustable rear seats that is missing on the new. I am not a big fan of big front grills so that might cloud some of my aesthetics. I know BMW had to change the design to keep it interesting and the team did a great job by focusing on making it more muscular but surprised how the increase in size did not lead to more space inside - the rear is still more cramped than the Q7 for instance. I also prefer the grain on the Dakota leather vs. the smoother Vernasca leather. But the interior on the new X5 looks great - probably one of the best BMW interior.
