Trying to figure out the interior trim, but since it's all new it's a challenge. Any info on the appearance of the two wood options? Confused by the names:
Is "Brown-Metallic High-gloss Ash Grain Wood Trim" more reddish brown, or ash gray? And what's metallic about it? And is "Anthracite-Brown Poplar Wood Trim" a matte finish? Open pore? What color is it, as anthracite can mean black? |

Hi!
I'm trying to get confirmation of whether or not the Merino extended leather includes the wrapped leather dash on an M-Sport 40 build? I've read on here it does, but I'm hearing from my CA that it does not. The leather dash is still a $1200 option (in the USA). Could you help confirm? |

M50d wheel option only for now. Most likely available as option with future M50i in the US.

Display Key
Hi,
I can't find any mention anywhere of the display key for USA build? I have seen it in the videos on youtube but don't see it on the order / price guide. Is it a standard feature now? I plan to order in the next couple of weeks, so I would love to know. I posted this question in the wrong section earlier sorry guys! |

Does Extended Merino Leather include Leather Dash?
Was reviewing a different thread, and poster asserted 4M5 Leather Dashboard ($1,200) was included with VAxx (Ind) Extended Merino Leather ($1,000 in combination with ZMP), on a 40i. Another poster questioned that.
I would have expected that to be explicit in the Ordering Guide, but it is not. I'm ordering my first BMW, so I don't know what "extended" really means and if it implies a leather wrapped dash. I also don't really know what the difference is between Vernasca and Merino. I'm coming to understand leather is not leather. My 40i build is on order, with Vernasca and Sensatec dash. If $1k gets me both Merino and a leather dash, I'll revise my order.

I don't know how many additional areas are included in the "extended" Marino leather, but I do know that it does not include the dash. This is an additional feature and an additional $1,200. I asked about the same thing you did regarding the Marino vs Vernasca leather and was told Marino is a much softer leather and higher quality feel than the Vernasca. This is my first BMW as well and opted for the extended Marino and leather dash so the materials would be complementary to one another. It's my understanding that the normal dash is comparable to a Sensatec finish. Hope that helps.

Merino is considered the high(set) tier of BMW leather options - from high to standard: Individual Full Merino < Individual Extended Merino (fine grain) < Extended Nappa (soft, smooth leather) < Vernasca (replaces Dakota, leather, regular grain, durable) < SensaTec (synthetic, very durable) One way to picture extended leather option is, looking out the front window while in the driver's seat, everything in your peripheral vision will be leather, and everything below your lower range of vision soft touch and hard panels. In my current X5 (F15) with mocha interior design package, the extended nappa leather upholstery includes front and rear seats, headrests, rear panels on front seat backrests, door upper and panel inserts, centre console including tunnel and armrests, and top of instrument panel. It was well worth the upgrade - leather is very supple and comfortable for long drives. I've received many compliments on how luxurious the interior looked. If you're ordering M Sport, upgrading to extended Merino is actually $1750 ($1000 with ZMP and 456 Multi-contour seats $750) or $2600 ($1000 with ZMP and luxury seating ZLS $1600) Based on the current G05 order guide, leather dash is a $1200 separate option. Can't comment on the value for the leather dash for you but if you're set on Vernasca - the SensaTec dash is sufficient. Gives you extra money to order other options - like laser lights (LOL). Cheers! Last edited by Auricom; 08-29-2018 at 07:06 PM.. |

Any perks of taking delivery in Spartanburg?
Also, what is the estimated delivery date if I were to order today for a build with some features SOP on 12/18 vs. a build with all features available now? |

Here is what I've been told for current builds. I had an early allocation and my X5 is already built and hanging out at the factory. My SA says they are expecting customer deliveries in late October after they receive their demos in mid September. Hard to say.
For the PDC I wasn't offered any perks outside of the usual stuff BMW gives you. I asked about doing it but my dealer wasn't that excited this early in the life of the G05. Not sure why. I'm guessing by December BMW will be back on track to their typical delivery timelines which really depend on your dealers allocations. For me it's usually around 3-4 weeks from order to arrival. |

woodrowx5 , Auricom - Thank you both for your perspectives and for the very detailed and helpful info! ZMP M Sport and ZLS Luxury Seating (which includes the 456 Multi-contour Seats) are in my build.
Sounds like the "right" way to upgrade the cabin leather would be to do BOTH the VAxx Extended Merino upholstery and the 4M5 Leather Dashboard for a combined $2,200 (considering my current build). Initial reaction is that if I was buying the BMW of my dreams, it'd be kinda of a no-brainer to upgrade a $78k build. But as it is, this will be my wife's daily driver and -- eventually -- we intend to let our 50lb goldendoodle enjoy rides in the second row. Not because my wife will be the principal driver, but rather because of how we expect to use the vehicle... seems like Vernasca upholstery paired with the Sensatec dash might be the more durable? and sensible choice? 5AZ Laserlights are already in my build But MPPK at half the cost of upgraded cabin leather.... hmmmm

Vernasca would be more durable and definitely a sensible choice if you're concerned with a future 50lb in the back. I use the rear seat cover with my English Bullie - he's a destroyer and would have torn up the nappa without it. Not to say that Merino isn't durable - it's durable but a bit more luxurious, especially with the "quilted" stitching pattern. My coworker has a M550i with tartufo full merino and it's sumptuously gorgeous. Sounds like you've got an awesome build and looking forward to your photos when it's delivered!
