No end in sight for my Stop Sale
My 38 week build X5 remains at the Oxnard VPC in Stop Sale. I've contacted BMW at various levels with no success to try to find out when it will be fixed and shipped.
I've prepared a backup plan to purchase another vehicle for immediate delivery if I continue to hear nothing about the progress on my X5. One dealer who has had their Stop Sales X5s delivered said they'd be fixed by November 1. However, that's only seven weekdays from now with no reports of parts delivered and work scheduled. |

In fact our Week 41 car will be at our local dealer before their HEA Week 36 car will arrive (ours will be the very first G05 to arrive)! HEA car has been at Oxnard VPC for almost 1.5 months.

BMW Garage website only showed the "Dispatched from factory" status for 1 day I believe before it moved to"At the port". But of course this isn't really accurate. It didn't get from SC to Oxnard, CA by train in 1 day. I think it just moves to "At the port" once it is loaded on the train.

An apologetic dealer ...
My dealer called today, very frustrated with BMW's X5 Stop Sales in general and the Stop Sale on my 38-week build X5 in particular -- which has gone on for nearly a month and a half. It's at the Oxnard VPC with no one saying when it will be fixed and shipped.
My dealer's words were, "Why can't BMW produce a new vehicle without having recalls before they are even delivered? We are stuck in the middle!" My dealer will give me a vehicle to drive at no cost until my X5 gets delivered to me. |

Need to remember though, technically no sold customer cars are to be delivered before 11/1 and no retail deliveries before 11/15. So the X5s on stop sale aren’t really “delayed”.
Hopefully they get these cars fixed and to dealers by 11/1 though!! And the lack of communication on BMWs part has to be frustrating to those impacted for sure.

Talked to my dealer today and they have no information on how or when the Stop Sale will be lifted. On top of that they said " Don't worry everything will work out. " I am hoping for a Nov. 1st delivery but right now I'm not so sure it will happen! Some words from BMW showing progress toward a solution to the Stop Sale issues would be welcome. |

I just called BMW genius for an update on my week 43 40i. It has been dispatched from factory, on the way to Oxnard. No stop sales on this unit.

Dealers are getting upset since F15 inventories are low at many. Dealers here sell a ton of X5s and their early allocations are sitting in Baltimore. The X5 I ordered and was built mid-August and I am no longer taking delivery of it. I’ll wait for BMW to get the kinks out. Way too large of a recall for my comfort.

Great! I was told our X5 was in Oxnard still due to the "programming issue". Any idea what that is/was? Our car didn't have any of the other stop sale issues (battery cable, baffles, etc).

FYI, I called BMW Genius today and they did provide a bit more detail about what the "Programming Issue" is that the cars are on hold for. There is a small safety related software fix being applied to all X5s that changes the amount of time before the doors will automatically unlock in the event of an accident or roll-over. He said this is a quick update that shouldn't hold the car up very long. He did say the fix was starting to be applied today to vehicles and they hope to release our X5 by Monday or Tuesday next week to be shipped to our dealer.
So the 11/1 or 11/2 delivery date might still be in play!

Update: BMW sent out more information and instructions on changing cables and baffles to dealerships. It will take 6 hours to complete. I'm looking forwards too seeing the replacement parts come by the end of next week.

That looks more in line with an 11-12 delivery date. |

I was at my dealership this morning, wife wants an X1. They have 5 G05s now and said the can deliver starting 11/11. That is the latest info they received from BMW. They are writing up deals based on that date.

11/11 is a Sunday and basically no dealership is open on Sunday so not sure why they would start deliveries on that day.
