Just talked to BMW Genius -- my X5 is scheduled to be completed on 12/6, and expected to take delivery on December 13-15. UGH -- this is going to be the longest three weeks of my life.

Also, once in production, the automated line (as opposed to a person/Genius) will give you an expected completion day. You have to be a squirrel to gather all the information from different places:
1) Website - use your build number to register your vehicle in "My Garage" once in production, this site gets you your VIN and supposed to give you your "current" status - which seems to not be current ever: https://securelogin.bmwusa.com/login? 2) Automated line - gets you similar info that the website can, but tells you your vehicle's expected completion day - once you are in production: 800-831-1117 (Stay on the line and when the robot-voice asks you to tell it the reason for the call, say "vehicle production status". Say your production order number or partial VIN and it should tell you the estimated completion date). 3) BMW Genius - talk to a person...good for the most accurate current build week status but they never relayed the expected completion date: 844-443-6487 Get your VIN from the website. Build week from the geniuses. Production completion date from the automated line. Trains, planes and automobiles. Last edited by lumpydog; 11-27-2018 at 12:32 PM.. |

Keep us up to date... as mentioned, weird things happen w/regard to status vs actual. Is the automated line still communicating a completion date?

That is truly odd it went to production starts and then didn't for like 2 weeks.

Mine went to "Today's the Day/in production" last Monday - the 19th. Hasn't changed. Due to complete this Friday the 30th.
Other accounts have said they had similar experiences parked at In production forever and then suddenly breezed through the process. Home stretch... as the Tom Petty song goes.... |

So I have a dilemma if anyone can answer.
I am now debating to add M Sport Brakes and I am scheduled Daily with ZDY which was assumed as week 49. I asked the dealer to add it and I am told that it may delay the production by unknown time and he will not know how much it will delay if any until after he puts in the change. Once the change is made, there is no way to bring anything back. So. did anyone make a similar risk and how did it pan out? I have debated back and forth about the brakes and if I dont get them, I am not likely to loose sleep over them, I'd prefer to have the vehicle sooner if that were to delay. |
