So I have version 11/2018.49 installed and the weather and other apps are gone. Rebooted several times, performed the "Update apps and services" and still no apps or awesome widgets.

How long should the "update apps and services dialog box take?" When I select it, it says "Transferring Data" for like 5-7 seconds then "Apps and services updated" with a close button.

The concept that these cars can't be updated OTA is absolutely stupid. Either that or connect to home Wi-Fi in the garage. When these cars are out of warranty, I'm not going to get stuck paying $500 to update the software so the car functions as intended and the widgets / interface work as designed. Still no weather widget functionality update on our .45. I give up.

I'm assuming the 5 hasn't been updated because the key and loaner agreement said 2019 540i and the interior was definitely pre-G... had iDrive 6... lots of fake plastic-y wood and plastic. Had multi-contour seats though... so... there's that.

You might check the Personalize Menu option, to see if it has just been hidden by your dealer...

The .45 software still has the weather widget. You may need to re download the apps.

Mine doesn't. I've tried downloading apps (took 24 hours for one or two to show up but not weather) and updating the apps, all to no avail. And the App Store only works on some of the time, not that there are any apps in there anyway.

I’m on .45 (updated by dealer Monday) and all my apps are gone except BMW Assist and Service Request. No amount of update apps and iDrive reboots have returned them. Connected Drive no longer works either as a result. Great job, guys!

At this point, I'm parking on the version I have (.43) and not wasting time with 2-3 day dealer visits that seems to degrade functionality and not fix anything.

My biggest issue is my Connected App on my iPhon correctly has my vehicle, but its last info update and location were the day BMW unloaded it from the truck at the dealership - Connected App currently shows my X5's location as the dealer on the arrival date - and all the information from the vehicle on that day - but it won't update to current location/date and I cannot get the phone to communicate to the vehicle (lock, unlock, horn, etc). On the vehicle side, no option to enable 3D surround view... so something aint right.

Getting music and playlists from my phone is an adventure - talk about distracted driving....

I had that problem until I set up my profile in the car. Maybe you’ve already done that.
