Engine Break in Period (x40i)
The manual states keeping it under 4500rpm for the first 1200 miles. I called my local dealer's service department and was told to just drive it normally, there is no required break in unless its an M engine. I'm just curious why is there such a disparity between the manual and the info from the service department?

Or you can bust out driving as you see fit if you're leasing. Modern engines really don't require breaking in and they do test it during production.

But what the service dept. says is is probably going to result in no problems 99.9% of the time (i.e. less cautious, but unlikely to cause any issues in real life). |
