Does Corona have an impact on production?

Gents, does anyone know whether Corona has an impact on production and delivery time?

Mine (HEA) was supposed to be built next week (and delivery 1 May week) but now I am very worried. Is there any update on the situation at Spartanburg?

Thanks and cheers from Austria Vienna

I’ve been watching this closely too (scheduled for April production/delivery for mine).

Based on my Google search yesterday, BMW was quoted in an article put out by a local news affiliate (maybe WYFF in South Carolina?) on March 6th - BMW said that while they are monitoring developments closely, there is currently no impact of the Coronavirus on their production timing or supply chain at Spartanburg and everything is on schedule....or something to that effect.

I’m crossing my fingers too!

Yes, my car stuck somewhere in Germany. The dealer don't have any idea where is it and when will be delivered. Also from today they can not order any spare parts from Germany.
Definitely no good news for me... Car completed on 4th of February....

Ahh good point there. Hopefully it does not come to that. Given what has happened, there is a risk that this could happen to spartanburg.

I honestly can't see Spartanburg staying open with so many others closing down.

Totally agree. I think it will close within a week. I suspect BMW will really have no choice - supply chain disruptions, severely curtained demand and, of course, health considerations of its employees/community - just not seeing how/why they will zig when all others zag.

I will be very surprised if I actually take delivery before June at this point (currently scheduled for production in week 14). I want to be wrong.

Will close for sure, like most for at least 2 weeks

Well, just saw this was released about 20 min ago...

https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.fox...f5fb4.amp.html

Reading between the lines, it sounds like they don’t plan to shut down the SC plant unless government health officials force them to.

I’m selfishly all for them keeping the plant operational over the next month or so, but it seems crazy that other economic factors such as supply chain challenges and eroding demand won’t bleed into their decision matrix...eventually.

Yea, I saw that today too...as did a couple others. I searched for some sort of official news release about it, but couldn’t find anything. But yea, hard to imagine this is just some glitch with their website. My guess is production will come to a screeching halt in the next few days.
