Cost Question...

Hi - Dealer just found a leak in my "expansion tank" for coolant - wants $975 parts and labor. They also say I need four new run flats - $1800 - should I do that somewhere else? It's a 2012 X5. Thank you for any advice.

Garage List
I am helping a friend replace his leaking coolant tank on his 2012 X5 M. A bit of a tricky job (very tight), but very doable. You can find many YouTube videos of how to get access to remove the tank sensor & bottom tube.

Hint: twist the sensor 90 degrees to remove it!

Pretty sure the parts cost him <$100 and some beer for me...

Pricing on the RFTs also sounds a bit high, for what you can get at Discount tire or TireRack.com...

Good luck!

$1800 could be fine for the runflats. All depends on the brand and size, none of which you mention.

See what they would give you on trade for that 2012. A 12 year old BMW can do some damage to your bank account on a regular basis.
Trust me, this is extremely good advice.
