It was most likely done at the dealership which would probably do the job with about the same quality as me.

I wish manufacturers would sell the seats remanufactured as complete units, but every manufacturer just sells the leather and the cushions seperately and it's up to the dealer on how well they assemble it again.

Got our car today. Here are the back seats. Pretty bad visually, but honestly I don't care. They are incredibly comfortable.

When I finally seem to increase my comfort level on moving back to BMW with the new G05, I see this...
MT first test very complimentary, 0-60 at 5.0, good handling, great mileage, etc. As fast as the base Cayenne (my other option).
Then photos. The rear leather looks passable, at least the wrinkles are fairly evenly distributed. That's progress. But look at the side photo of drivers seat. Does the thigh support cover look like it's coming off at bottom? Really?
For some reason could not lift photo, so attached link.

its not! so i got an email from some guy at BMW GB... what a load of crock... i didnt even bother posting it...

the gist, we cant discuss new car... we hope it doesnt turn up like old one, if it does we will help you.. he does clearly mention manufacturing default and then to add insult to injury goes on to say... wish you many happy miles in your new car...

i went back saying i want to discuss old car, quality control blah blah... used his own sentence on him "you cannot even guarantee my new car when i am spending north of £90K"...he hasnt replied this was last week, funnily enough i sent him a email this morning...

2 lines,

1) still awaiting a reply
2) a response would be deemed polite at the minimum....

i havent given up on this just yet...

Well she works for Lear, so she would not tolerate the thought of wrinkled seats.

I was at the dealership servicing one of the cars. Our X5 arrived so I snapped a few pics. I guess I'm joining the wrinkled back seat club.

Curious but has anyone done anything about it?

Visited a dealer today to have a look...
Same crappy look here.

I'm trying to not completely block on this, but it's impossible...

The leather doesn't even feel that soft... comfortable, yes, but not more than my 8 year old 5-series...

And have a look, the leather of my rear seats is still (since day 1) tight as a ...

Drove a 40i at dealer yesterday (only drove 50i prior). The 40i I found had sufficient power...not grunt of the V8 but acceptable to me. Light front end and lighter price (about $10K) makes the 40i my choice if I go BMW.
The rear leather varied substantially among the dealer inventory, regardless of build date. Majority were "acceptable", a few I would not accept. This is so unfortunate, at least for those that expect higher standards from a premium automaker. The fact that this has not been addressed makes me wonder what else is being allowed to pass through QC. Apparently this situation is acceptable for most...the G05 appears to be selling well.
I asked dealer about stitched dash/doors showing up on cars without leather dash option. There were X-Lines with and without. No clue.
They also couldn't understand why Silver was not available on X5.

Me 2. Best thread on the site if you ask me. In fact, now that I think about it, if they gave the equivalent of an oscar/grammy/emmy to car threads, this one would have to be in the top 5 for 2018-2019.
