Leather Dashboard issue

I noticed that the leather underneath the dashboard where it meets the display is rough and discoloured. Is this normal? Could anyone with a leather dashboard check theirs and let me know please? If it’s not normal then any ideas how this could be fixed? Thanks

Definitely not normal. The underside of ours looks and feels just like the top. Is that just dirty perhaps? Is there some sort of residue or adhesive there? Have you tried cleaning it with a quality leather cleaner?

Otherwise...take it to the dealer. That ain't right!

It's not adhesive, I have tried a good leather cleaner but it did not do anything. The leather is damaged. I will take it in to my dealer today. My concern is that the dashboard appears to be in one piece and I really don't want it replacing as they never go back properly.

Certainly not normal. That leather looks contaminated or damaged. The leather used is to be a high grade Nappa. That area you are showing was probably not graded but the top was. If it’s not adhesive, it needs to be replace with a high grade Nappa. They will probably replace the entire leather dash top. I wouldn’t live with it.

I know the pain of having a dashboard issue. My dashboard has an annoying impression in the leather next to the speaker grill. Also, the Bowers and Wilkins speaker grill was dented. Both are being replaced. I thought about leaving the dashboard alone, but it bothers me. Also, when I thought through the replacement it must be designed to be replaced as it would be destroyed if the airbags were ever deployed.

Been to the dealer and they confirmed the whole dashboard needs to be replaced. I just hope they do a good job and I don’t end up with any annoying rattles.

Man that requires reassembly a lot of components having seen how the pieces come together in assembly video. Hopefully they do it right.

My door tops have issues with the adhesive, and dash has a weird 'dry' spot under the cluster that no amount of conditioner will fix

100% serious, local dealer refused to fix it so I'm going to test my luck elsewhere

Looks like the dealers in US are definitely different then in EU.

If I would go to my dealer with this, he would work heaven and earth to get this fixed... and charge BMW for it.

I am not convinced that this will be put back together without any issues. My dealer has assured me it will be perfect when I get it back so fingers crossed.

My dashboard has exactly the same inconsistencies, they have got quality issues with the leather on these cars. My M50D which I exchanged for this had no issues like the G05 has.

My door tops are fine, just my dashboard has the problem. I’ll take some pictures tomorrow as it’s now night here and post them.

Is that leather rough feeling as it has that water damage look from the pics. Is that first pic the front or rear right door?

The door ones are caused by excessive adhesive which I can see when the window is rolled down fully. The dealer thought it was water from the tint but I took delivery with those so I know it wasn't water. I'll take pictures showing the adhesive issue which another member here reporting having too.

Thats ridiculous, do they not inspect them before they leave the plant?
Seems like they are hiring blind people to inspect these cars. (no disrespect to blind people)
Did they ever fix this for you?

QC issues could be worse like a mechanical issue. I'm not happy about the cosmetic ones but they can be fixed easily.

I haven't taken it back in yet
