Rearview Camera Recall Campaign 2021-078
just received this letter from BMW Canada.
I haven't seen anything on this forum about that... Does anyone know what this is about ? I'm secretly hoping this is the 'bug' LexxM3 highlighted about the switch of camera view when engaging into D after R |

BMW can't help themselves but be completely obscure and opaque about the issue yet again, can they? It's obviously completely impossible to tell what the issue to be corrected really is from that notice, but I highly doubt it's the R to D failure to change to front view camera "bug" on US-based cars. It sounds more likely like the old rear camera brightness/contrast range limit campaign from about 1.5 years ago that took a working brightness control setup and made it barely or non-working in terms of rear camera brightness adjustment — you now more or less can't see much in the dark. I wouldn't allow it to be done without a 1000% clearer explanation.

The top down camera on my F96 is horrible, can't see anything in the dark, especially on the side where the car is projecting a shadow. It was much better on my F86 and E70.
