Well the way TB was saying for a minute, I had a 50/50 shot of it working. I know I'm not on the latest over all version though. The biggest thing reason I wanted to upgrade was the transmission EGS software bug. Previous version -- The current software version of your vehicle may mean that the electronic transmission control continues to consume energy after parking the vehicle and may result in the total discharge of the 12V battery. BMW Defect code 0024720100

You weren't affected by that issue so you would have been fine. You were on iD version prior to the bug being introduced.

Interesting, never heard of it having that on the app. You were running 11/2020.50 and the issue was introduced in 07/2022.50 and ran through 11/2022.31

I was on 11/2021.50, but that doesnt matter since apparently I wasn't affected as the bug wasn't even introduced yet

Well....on the drive home I noticed that my gesture control barely works now and when it does its spotty at best. Tried the IC reset and its still bad. My hand has to be about 3 inches away from from the sensor and it only recognizes volume up and down but doesn't keep going. It's like it flicks the volume knob and let's go. Won't recognize any other gesture.

after any update, give the software some time to “settle in”. it’s even well-known the vehicle may throw multiple check control messages after updating, though they’re usually benign.

after every update, I go through the entire menu and verify all my settings. some may reset to default or become disabled from updating, so you may want to double-check your gesture control settings

Thanks. I may give it a few days and see if it irons out. I was just really bummed that gesture control was broken. It was the first drive on the new software. I must have. Looked odd to other drivers though.

If you mean do you have to redo the settings, I have heard from other people that you have to re-apply any settings that you coded in. If you mean does it not work at all any more, I haven't seen anyone saying that.

I did the update today. No issue with the installation but now (1) music doesn't appear in the BMW interface and (2) the forward and reverse buttons on the steering wheel do not work. FYI I use CarPlay and the same issue occurs whether in BMW or CarPlay. Is this just me?

I don't have that particular issue, but I have the update before yours and now my gesture control no longer functions.

I was able to update the software to version 11/2023.50 and use bimmercode to reset everything back. It does reset the normal settings pre bimmercode changes.

I don't want to jinx it, but on my way home from work yesterday gesture control appeared to be fully working again. I am not sure If it's related, but I also finally set up my profile in the car before leaving work as well.

Completed the update. Bimmercode seems to revert back to factory. Wondering if any of the coding stays. My 5 times turn signal stayed but the option to choose was gone.
