Yes - the mounting feet are basically universal - it's the mounting/fit kit that is specific to the vehicle

Not sure if the 4023 Fit Kit is the same for Jeep and BMW... check. You may need to buy the right fit kit to transfer them from the jeep to the X5

I wonder what the difference is between the BMW rails and the Thule... I think the Thule racks sit lower to be more aero. Is this correct?

Compared to the OEM that was in the dealership, the Thule Aero’s are much sleeker and lower. I would have to assume the sunroof still fully operated with both.

That's my only real concern... But based on a little research, should be just fine.

Thanks. I’ll look into the Thule racks. Are they even available yet? Anyone have a cost estimate?

That doesn't look any lower than the BMW rails to me.

I meant the orange reflector on the front bumper. I thinking of purchasing the painted reflectors from IND, so I've been looking at reflectors for the past 2 days. Trained 👀 eyes

They are a bit lower (they can not be too low because there would be a collision with the fin/antenna and roof window) and have one additional advantage - you can choose the wider version (on the right), so that you can put up to 4 bikes or box + 2 bikes on the roof .

The Thule Aero's are much lower than OEM. For a sporty vehicle the Thule's seem like a much better choice. See the OEM's in this listing

The kit I specified and linked to earlier in this thread worked perfectly - and yes, sunroof works with plenty of clearance.

Taking it on the highway today and will report back on any noise.

Looks good. I called the geniuses at Thule and they told me the 2019 setup wouldn’t be ready for another 1-2 months.

Did anybody try with Whispbar kit for BMW X5 f15 (kit S27 K670) ? Is it compatible with G05 just like the bmw roof rack for f15?

Over 37 MPH the rack whistles in a way that will make you want to stab your eardrums out with a ballpoint pen. I don't exaggerate.

I was stubborn about getting to the bottom of the noise and tried moving the bar's locations around - test drive, whistle. Tried only the front bar - test drive, whistle. Only the rear - test drive, whistle. Covered the footings in microfiber cloths - test drive, whistle. Covered the Aerobars in microfiber cloth - the very thing/design that Thule markets as being the answer to quiet cross bars... surely the Aerobars were not the culprit... Test drive, silence.

It turns out the Aerobars were the source of the whistle. I'm not sure if it's the air flow of the X5 or the bar's height off the roof... but the whistle/noise they make in any position on the X5's roof will drive you up a wall.

Ordered on Amazon and going back to Amazon. Anyone else try and experience a better solution??

Maybe the aerodynamics of the F15 and G05 are quite significant and this is why they said a solution will be available in a couple of months. I know Thule won’t let a product like that out on the market that whistles loudly at speed. I guess we will have to wait and see what they come up with...

I don’t see Thule coming out with a new bar design for just one vehicle... I moved that bar around, front to back and man did it whistle in all locations. Maybe new footings to change the height of the bar?

Only way I could stop the whistling was to wrap the bar itself (just the section between the footings) in microfiber cloth. I even tried leaving just a one foot section of the center of the bar exposed. Even that one foot section whistled. I spent way too much time testing - only to find it was the bar itself that was the source of the whistle.

We’ll see...

Are there any updates on which Roof Racks work well with the G05?
It seems the Thule Aerobars whistle.
Has anyone tried the Thule Wingbar Edge?

How are the BMW OEM bars in terms of noise?

Quick update from me on the Thule setup. I reached out to their support dept and they were useless. I ended up buyin a roll of aluminum finished 3M vinyl and cutting a strip to run across the bottom length of the aerobars (ends too) and that killed the whistling noise immediately. Poor design by Thule, but for those interested in using them, that’s the work around I found to stop the whistling.

Can you please post a pic pf this hack? I would love to see how you fixed the whistling noise. Would be a great help! Thanks.
