How to switch on Skylounge LEDs?
I will be picking up my car (2020 X5 M50i) on Sunday but went to inspect it today. Everything looked great except I could not figure out how to switch on Skylounge LEDs. I have the executive package and i can see the leds on the roof but couldnt figure out how to switch it on. Does it switch on by itself at night? (i went there in the afternoon).
Another unrelated question - how to check the software version for idrive? |

Generally they are not delivered with the latest software due to the lag time between production and customer delivery. Most dealers do not upgrade the software during PDI but you can always ask them and see if they will do it. 07/2019.55 was released today according to what I read earlier.

I have never heard it referred to a printout either but you are probably talking abut a key check. They can check for updates, recalls, TSBs, etc. but using your keyfob. Your X5 should at least have 07/2019.53 since that was the update that BMW notified owners about. Have your dealer check to make sure that one is installed and if not tell them you need that done before you accept it.

I believe that's correct - I think BMW considers the Skylounge part of Ambient Lighting.

I think it varies by country. We have an M Sport with the Sky Lounge option.

If they replaced the much larger opening F15 sunroof with this smaller option, just to accommodate the LED's, it was a terrible decision IMO. Loved the huge sunroof on my F15, and these lights are just meh. |

Sky Lounge LEDS stopped working & dashboard ambient lights
BMW replaced my entire sunroof to fix this problem.
Notes from BMW service: Connected diagnostic tool, performed scan, read faults found for ambient lighting and no communication on the LIN bus. Attempted to re address ambient lighting - no changes. Performed corresponding test plan & said to replace rear foot well - no changes. Tested power and ground at various sources throughout vehicle. Removed front and rear sunroof glass and found that the harness that connects to front and rear were corroded. Replaced both front and rear sunroof glass and well as the harness. All lights except the rear dome lights and sunroof glass were lighting up. Removed the roof function center, rear dome lights and front vanity mirror. As per test plan replaced rear dome light and found a blown fuse. Replaced fuse and all lights came back on. Auto addressed all ambient lights, function tested all components and all working as designed. Thankfully all covered under the extended warranty. |
