My story: I ordered an X5 M50i in late July. It has a B&W radio, Tanzanite blue, etc. I am finally scheduled for production in week 48.

I saw the thread about B&W being no longer available for order after early Sept. My question is has anyone taken delivery of an X5/X6 with a B&W radio in the last 2-3 months? I'm curious if that too will be replaced.

Yup you likely won't get it.

There's a difference between when your dealer took your order, and when the dealer was given a factory allocation to place your order ... and in your case that gap was fairly large (that is, when your dealer took your order they had no factory allocation with which to fill it)

And, unfortunately, it's the factory build week that matters and 48 is probably after the supply constraint ... but .... you might get lucky!

These days probably best to plan on not getting it and then be surprised when & if you do!

I was week 40 with B&W and got pushed out to week 50 and told it would likely get pushed further. I had to remove B&W to get my car in production which it just finished production. Now I am facing another issue of touch screen being removed and have to decide if I take delivery or not. Hopefully you do not face that issue.

Did you get scheduled for production in week 40 and then get moved? Because now that I think about it, my car had a scheduled production date that appeared on Oct 5, only to disappear a day or two later. I wonder if the same thing will keep happening each month. I hate to say it, but I almost hope it will get delayed a few more months to avoid the touchscreen fiasco.

If your order got moved in production and B&W was on the order, it will stay.

We've got quite a few X7 M50is, X5 M50is, and X5 Ms that had them on the order BEFORE it was removed. All of those vehicles have B&W.

I ordered an X5 M50i in august. I had a production number the same day. In October it went to scheduled for production and back to order received. A couple weeks later it was “scheduled” again, but with massage seats and B&W removed.

Yesterday it changed to production begins, even though my dealer said it will be built the week of 11/14 and those two items are still missing.

I’ve told them I’ll wait if it means I’ll get what I ordered. They essentially said they know nothing and I can refuse it when it shows up.

I would have bought the loaded X5MC they had on the lot if it was actually comfortable…

I ordered mine at the beginning of September and picked it up at the end of October and it was built with the B&W system and all other options as ordered.

21 X5M Ordered in June. BMW flipped the allocation to a '22 and ended '21 production early. August 3rd build and received all options including B&W.

Man, I would have wanted B&W had I known this info. It's not a deal breaker, but I didn't pursue the possibility as I was under the impression it was just not happening for a new m50i.

UPDATE: My status went backwards again to order received. I'm not sure if it's the B&W or individual color or something else, but I'm back on the sideline. With the touchscreen issue as it is, I'm not overly disappointed. My hope is that the touchscreen will come back and they will then decide to produce my vehicle. Although it could get produced with half the options missing in a few months, I'm hoping things improve for us all.

Me too - I ordered an X5 M50i in September with the B&W. Last night was the second time I've gone one step backwards to Order Received on the My Garage website. I've called a few times over the last 2 months and the approx build date has ranged from week 46 to week 51.

We’re in the same boat. Did you order a “normal” color or individual color?

Nice choices - I ordered the carbon fiber trim as well.

I also just called the Genius Hotline and got week 51 as a production date. I've gone from week 40 to 44 to 48 to 51. Clearly, it appears that one item is causing it to be rescheduled each month.

Just noticed that I'm back to Scheduled for Production. When I called the Genius 800 number, they told me week 49.

As of now, yes. The Genius hotline said nothing has been removed, including the touchscreen.

I ordered my X6 M50i mid-Aug, picked up mid-Oct and everything I chose. B&W, massage seats, touchscreen, etc. The only interesting change was giving me non-run flat tires when I initially requested run-flat. No biggie, the difference was credited.

I had a mid-october build ordered 1 day before B&W disappeared from the website, and now that its delivered, yes it had the B&W ... though I prefer whatever stereo my 2018 F83 Comp has .... I'll really have to mess with the settings per MystroX5's advice, cause so far it soundy no good. And it's DEFINITELY not a stereo for bassheads ... I would call it neutral, i.e. no sub-bass and ok mid-bass. Again, so far.

Since I ordered a lot long before it was removed as an option, but they remove it on me anyways…

Don’t get me going on the massage seats.

I’m planning on seeing what I can to do add a sub to the spare tire space anyways.
