for our purposes, no. only plastic won't do.
I have Vernasca but would get Sensafin without hesitation (we actually wanted it for the G30 we just ordered, but it wasn't an option) |

For me it was worth the upgrade as the Merino is very nice. Upon final ordering adjustments for our '23 there really wasn't much feedback for the Sensafin yet. The Sensatec that I seen was cracking on a 2019 x5 and I didn't want to chance it with the Sensafin. Others though seem to really like the new Sensafin.

Depends on your use case and your level of effort or willingness to upkeep. We checked pretty much every box on our recent build except the Merino. I liked the Sensafin more than the Vernesca we just had, it's really nice. The Merino is fantastic, but does require more care and upkeep and we're the type that clean/detail our cars at home pretty often, but the way we use the X5 for us and the pets, I thought the Sensafin was the better choice.
If you have the ability, swing by a local dealer who has a '23 X5/X7 with Sensafin to check it out. Last edited by jiggie; 09-29-2022 at 12:04 PM.. |

I think it's worth it; soft, smells good and looks great. I'm still on the leather train and haven't quite switched to those alternatives yet. With 2 small kids (5&6) It seems I was supposed to go with the feaux leather however, I yet to experience any issues.

Don't get me wrong. Merino is very nice. I really wanted it before I ordered. Then, come ordering time, I took it off the list for cost reasons and kids with other kids are always in the backseat. And wanted to keep the MSRP below $80k.
Ended up with Silverstone sensafin w/luxury seatings. While it's no Merino, so far, I am very happy with sensafin. We usually don't keep the car more than 5 years, or put a lot of miles. So, longevity may not be an issue for us. I give the kids the evil eyes when they put their shoes on the seats. |

Whatever they call it, sansafin is just vinyl. Aside from $2500, if you want minimal maintenance and foresee rough use, say young kids or dogs, it is a better option. The catch is comfort. Leather will get softer and more comfortable, but it will take some maintenance to look good.

Putting my 45e order together. Love Silverstone Sensafin color, but concerned about lack of Driver's Lumbar Support Only -$175 Does that mean no lumbar support? If Silverstone came in Merino I'd order it. It appears Merino doesn't have this delete

The X5M was overkill for my wife and we "downgraded" her to an M50i. About 1.5yrs ago, she wanted to give an Audi a try (don't ask), and now we want to check out a 45e for her before the end of the year. Me, I've been hanging out in the G8x subforum. Hope you are well!

Insight
Has anyone heard any rumors of when leather will be back? This thread seems to have more information than any dealer and sales person. Not sure I can do the Vegan Option for my $ 75K car. Speaking of wheels I find the wheel option for the M X50x a bit if a bore. I like a nice well done chrome wheel and not this already dusty dark wheel that never seems to shine or reflect when you drive. Anyone????

Wait, what? No leather? Are you referring to the Vernasca leather making a comeback, or is there a delay w/ the Merino ?
