2020 With about 35k miles. What to do next!

I have a 2020 M50i with about 35k miles. I was going to pass it down to my son. I had to recently replace the front differential. Seems to run fine since the repair. Now the leather is coming off the dash where the seam meets the windshield. In addition I need a new rear tire and the continentals are impossible to find.

SO…my question is what kind of longevity can I expect here? The car has been fantastic the last 4 years. But I’m detecting a trend here.

It seems a lot of people lease the X5 and just turn it in. I own this outright and not sure of its future.

Can anyone speak to their experience with 4+ years on this car?

Thanks so much!

If you do the maintenance it should last for many years. I'm starting my 6th year with mine and rather than going with the LCI like I thought I would be I will be holding onto it until the G65 comes out. I have no worries about keeping it 8 or 9 years. Granted I have a 40i but would think your M50i should hold up just the same.

Are you planning to keep it or to sell it to your son? If you're keeping it for you, tires is part of upkeep. Replace all 4 with something you can get and don't worry about it. The leather dash, I'd see about getting that warrantied, otherwise an independent upholstery shop could likely fix it.

Here's my take, those are two flaws you're paying for one way or another. You trade it in and they're gonna charge you more than it costs to fix them for them. You keep it, you pay to fix them yourself. It's a car, it will need more upkeep. Is there something else that you want more? If so, then go trade it in for that. If not, then fix it and take things as they come.
