X5 45e how to completely stop the battery to change knob ?

Hi,

On the 45e, even if you disconnect the battery in the trunk, the current remains activated on the dashboard and the idrive
Obviously the main battery powers a large part of the car !

I need to change de gear knob,

How do I completely disconnect the battery?

Hello

First, you need to open the bonnet (hood) to deactivate the 48v system.
  • Deactivate the 48V electrical system by opening the bonnet.
    The deactivation takes place automatically.

The X5 45e has two batteries in the boot (trunk) underneath the plastic tray. One directly underneath and the second on the right-hand side underneath the side panel. You might need to remove the side panel to gain access.
  • Disconnect the NEGATIVE terminals on both batteries.
  • Wait for about 5-10 minutes for the system to discharge and all the dash lights will turn off.

Hope this helps.
