Switching to CarPlay when I open any apps on my phone

So when I start my car it normally has XM playing briefly.. then switches to CarPlay. Which is annoying obviously. But the bigger issue is that any time I go to check any of my apps (social media in particular).. XM stops playing and the car switches to car play (no music playing).

Anyone have a fix?

that's how it is. I could have music streaming from Apple Music or playing from my Music library, but if I were to open the TikTok app, it'll switch to playing audio from TikTok. another example is if I open Facebook, my streaming music will continue to play UNLESS I play a Facebook video that has audio.

my advice is don't open any social media with audio that can interrupt your current streaming audio.
