Rear Defroster button blinking

What does this mean? I can't get to the online BMWUSA manuals for car. Google searches say low battery.
I know it's not low battery because I checked at the jump start points and directly on the rear 12v battery.
Fans in HVAC aren't running and when I go into the Comfort Setting to set the SYNC between driver and passenger, it's unavailable

There is nothing in the owners manual about this button blinking. Reset iDrive and if that doesn't fix it, go to the dealer.

Rebooting didnt help. Im curious what others have when they look at their Energy Flow Monitor on the mild hybrids. I wonder if thats real world, real time or just a pretty picture that gives people a warm fuzzy feeling. Mine says the 44v Lithium battery is half charged.

Dealer came back with X6 had programming errors. Took the dealer about 2 hours to reinstall programming.
This started the same day I hooked up a ctek agm smart charger to the jump start points under hood. Im starting to think mild hybrid = POS

Mild hybrid system doesn't charge the low voltage battery or vice versa when the hood is opened fyi. It's a standard feature that the mild hybrid system is deactivated when the hood is open.

Thanks. I wasnt trying to charge the 44/48 volt lithium battery. I was attempting to charge 12volt. Its my understanding the 48 volt system is deactivated when hood is opened and this is the correct way to charge 12volt on mild hybrid car.
Sad part about this situation, my bmw dealership knows nothing about these mild hybrids

That is true. And yes, the information is still very new. If personnel have not done the 48 mile hybrid online training yet then it will be hard for them to understand how it works. The ideal way to charge the 48v battery would be to have the hood closed and a charger hooked up. Sometimes the best way to do this is having a cable lay through the engine compartment to the floor , for example in a showroom.

Here we go again. I connected the CTEK smart charger to the jump posts under hood. After 2 days the heater defroster light started blinking again. My climate control system is dead. I know this CTEK is good because I use it on another car with AGM battery

Why is there a need to constantly charge your battery?

timmahh I have a few cars/bikes I keep on smart chargers during winter months since I can't drive them daily.
Never had this issue before with CTEK smart chargers and this one I am using has been tested on other cars and bikes with AGM batteries.

When I park this X6 this winter I need to know this smart charger works and apparently something is up with this X6 and the mild hybrid tech which doesn't want to play nice.

I'm getting to the point of saying screw it and connecting directly to the 12 v AGM battery....

Ahh ok. I kinda thought you were driving it around daily and then charging it daily as well. Hope you can get it sorted!

Dropped it off at dealership. Service manager told me there is a service bulletin on this car for this issue. Apparently there's a special procedure for trickle charging these mild hybrids that BMW didnt bother telling anyone If this service bulletin works Ill try and get the info and post here.
On a good note he gave me a 2021 X3 M Competition as a loaner. Stomped the mother and all 503 HP's and had it up to 101mph in seconds. Hope the dealership didn't see me

SIB 61 01 21 dated 3-2021 which replaces the version that came out in January 2021. In my case using a smart charger on my mild hybrid forced it into transport mode requiring X6 to be reprogrammed by dealer twice

Here is the SIB (PDF attached) for anyone that is interested

P.S. I saw that this thread is over a year old but since it was revived anyways, thought I would add the SIB.

The Transport Mode is a setting originally designed to prevent the batteries from being drained during the transportation of the vehicle from the factory to the dealership. Normally, you can have the Transport Mode reset by visiting your local service dealership. You can also do it yourself by using the DIS software. In my case it totally ended up being corrupted and had to be reloaded. If I remember right it was close to 2 hours to complete. I no longer use a trickle charger on my X6
