Can you code back in Gesture Control w BIMMERCODE ?

Just curious if this was shut off in 2023 models w/ just a SW disable, or if anyone knows that BMW also removed the HW recognition modules?
thanks

There is a kit, albeit an expensive one, on bimmertech to install gesture control that says it is for my 23 x5 45e vin. Requires installing the camera so I am guessing it can be enabled in the SW

Various bits have had supply issues, so were eliminated off and on throughout the last going on three years now to include cameras, displays, towing package, air suspension, acoustic glass, and a bunch of other stuff. So, it depends on what the supply was when any particular vehicle was built.

I can't imagine they would code the feature off if the HW was present. Why leave money on the table if they can charge for it? It was probably just due to supply issues in getting all of the parts. You can verify if you have the camera by
1. Check your build sheet or use VIN decoder and look for option code "S6U8 BMW Gesture Control"
2. Look at the overhead console just in front of the SOS button for a black lens. Not sure if the deleted cars have a different cover but if you post we can compare. Might end up having to take it apart if you really want to know.

Weinerbarn is correct, it most likely would be a hardware shortage. You could follow the same steps I did to retrofit it on my G01 X3 which didn’t have the Executive package. Definitely find a used module as it is nowhere near the cost of the Bimmertech kit.

Does anybody actually like gesture control? Took me all of like three days to turn it off. My wife kept changing the song every time she got worked up and her hands started flailing. Beyond that, it just seemed gimmicky.

haha, well, I'm single. Although I have noticed some inadvertent changes when having guests in the car. But, I like it. I use it all the time.

Impressive instructions by roxxor ... but I don't like it that much. I just wanted to see if BMW only just decoded it, but the hardware was still there. But doesn't sound like it.

BMW is trying a subscription model to enable certain functions that were not bought with the vehicle, but mostly in some other markets than the USA. I think heated seats was one of them. As an example, it appears that the upholstery includes heating on some, but if it wasn't ordered, didn't work. BUy the subscription, and it did.
