Ambient light turn on with headlight only

Hello all,
Is there a way to code ambient light to only come on when headlight is on? I have a feeling that keeping ambient light on all the time during daylight shortens the life of led SMDs on the ambient light. I know it can be turned off/on on idrive but wanted to see if there's an auto option to code.
