Windshield Repaired?

Had a rock hit my windshield on my A8L while in Cali. Looking to get it repaired, I guess using Safelite. Don't want to go with a new windshield as it isn't a horrible hit and I don't want the chance of losing my dual pane windshield.

Anyone have them or someone else do the repair before? Turn out well? They want $159 to take care of it, which I feel is not bad at all. Waiting to hear if insurance will cover the cost but even if they don't, no biggie. Damaged area is the size of a quarter total.

I would avoid Safelite at all cost and find an Indy glass guy with a solid reputation. Too many shoddy techs at Safelite. I’ve had my M2 windshield fixed twice by my local guru and that cat works miracles.

I had a chip repaired by an independent. The only issue was he used a piece of carpeting as a protector for my hood finish to place his equipment on. So I had to go home and compound, polish and wax.
The chip as I recall never appeared to form a star with spikes but was a few millimeter in size and never had issues afterward and was virtually invisible.

If Safelite or Indy, replace with OEM, spend the $$$ and be happy!
