I still haven't done it yet because I don't feel like arguing with anyone. I may just pop in to my local Safelite and ask what the procedure would be to request/demand the OEM part.

So far everyone I've mentioned it to acts like I'm insane.

I just went through this - rock chip, then spidered across.

Did everything on Safelite's website. Guy cam to my house, installed (FACTORY Yuasa or whatever), very professional. Test drive, calibrated, done. About as easy as it gets. Note I have factory HUD so I'm told they always use factory glass for that. YRMV.
