Wait, the Sky Lounge LEDs can cycle through 15 different colors? I've been driving this car for about a year and didn't realize that.

I don't think there is any reason to doubt that marketing info.

There will be a DOT number in the corner somewhere. Find that it will tell you the manufacturer. Then you can get the specs on that glass from the manufacturer.

Doesn't it match the ambient lighting? Those might be the colors it's referring to.

Not sure if this has already been discussed, but if you carry full glass coverage that sunroof should be covered at zero deductible. Always better to have the dealer pick up the tab, but at least it won't be an out-of-pocket expense.

i was concerned the skylounge was tempered glass, for safety reasons.. i had installed a safety film…but i will have it removed, since it’s laminated glass from factory

I'd probably leave the film on at this point, for fear of damaging the LED roof during removal.

I'm not sure if it's the same problem, but anyone that's removed window tint from a car with a rear window defroster knows what I'm getting at.

Sunroofs are not covered under a glass policy. At least not with Auto Owners.

It was a nightmare in an S4. Was easier just to replace the rear window.

Zero risk. The Skyline is etching in the glass if I recall and the LED's are in the sides of the sunroof cassette. It the reflections that you see in the glass. Easy way to verify is in dark environment, cover left or right side of the open channel.

Removing tint and having glue needed to be -scraped- clean with a flat blade, yes, I do see the potential for something to happen. I've had ours tinted since Day 1, but if memory recalls, there is some -pattern- on the glass . It's not led bulbs and I cannot recall if the pattern is the etching or something else

I think we're saying the same thing? Not sure why you say 'zero risk' and then acknowledge the potential for damage.

Was just pointing out there was no bulbs/elements on the glass itself

Depends on the skill of the tinter and methods used to protect the interior to clean the glass....using a flat blade to clean. Some are just more careful than others. And liquids to clean glass, etc. Or if they are leaning on the center console, seats, etc.

Correct, it can vary by insurer.
