I don't think the Squeak did, but I sort of remember the White Rocket needing one? It's been over 30 years since UPT and there are fair few jets in my brain between now and then.

At least, starting engines on a multi-place jet (w/ or w/o an FE) needs a few steps to get things going-- it's not intuitively obvious.

I don't think Joe Bag-o-doughnuts is going to jump into a Guppy and fire it up without a little help.

Although there IS a key!

Don't know the Air Force fighters that well, but the Navy fighters all had APU's to start. Start carts took up too much space on the flight deck. Many start checklists can be found with a google search.
