1Up. Have the same. Can get a standard double and add 2 more singles for up to 4 bikes at a time.

If I may piggyback on this thread is there a recommended one for E-bikes (heavier than standard bikes).

If you have e-Bikes; I would strongly suggest a Thule rack. I had this for 3 years and I think it is great.

1UP EquipD for a lighter weight, heavy duty option or the RockyMounts Backstage which weighs more but is much cheaper and very well made (minus the built in cable locks). Both allow opening of the tailgate with bikes mounted on the rack.

Anyone on here using a Quikr? My understanding is it’s an improved version of the 1up made by the 1up designer after he split from 1up and started his own company. There’s about a 5 week wait time according to their website.

You'd need to check your bike(s) wheelbase(s). My MTB had a long wheelbase, which is one of the reasons I got RockyMounts 2 bike 2" rack. Other racks support shorter wheelbase, up to 48", and it wasn't enough, as a rear wheel was literally hanging on the mounting point. |

I'm happy with my Kuat Sherpa 2.0. It's a two bike only rack. The spacing is a bit wider to accommodate bulkier bikes. Goes on and off without tools and has a nice cam lock that eliminates wobble.

I don’t have that one but my riding buddy has it. In my opinion it’s better than the 1up but it carries a hefty price tag and the wait is quite long. I’d highly recommend it.

The problem with a lot of racks from big name manufacturers isn't that they don't hold bikes, it's storing and maneuvering them off the car. Most are made of cheap steel that weighs a ton and, not being modular, end up being a heavy L-shaped thing that is hard to move around, and takes up a lot of space to store.
My favorite thing about the 1-Up is that it is both aluminum and modular, so I can carry the pieces with one hand, and easily hang them on the wall over my head. We have two single-bike Super Duty racks and a single Add On. I ride much more than my wife, and almost always alone, so the singles work great. When we want to ride together, it's a two minute job to bolt the Add On module to either rack. If you get the 1-Up, order all the locks you need (I use four for two bikes) when you order the rack. Specify they be keyed the same and you'll have a single key for both the rack and bike locks. Mark

+1 for the Kuat Sherpa. Lightweight and easy to install with the cam lock. I can even fit my fat tire bike on it although it is not really make for that size tire.

If I had to do it all over again, I'd probably upgrade to the Kuat Piston Pro. I wouldn't do the Sherpa though, it just feels too cheap. Best part of the NV 2.0 racks is that everything clears just fine with the unique hatch system of the X5. When the rack is folded up with no bikes on it, the top half clears the rack just fine.

And then right before taking the picture above, I pushed the driver's door button to open the rear hatch and I heard the hatch smash into that concrete beam above the car. I thought for sure that I damaged it and then realized that the little plastic cover over the rear wiper saved the day and left only a tiny mark that brushed right off.
