How ordering process goes?
Hi,
I finalized configuration with dealer and they ran financial application last Sunday, They said my order was placed and in the "pipeline". I want to know how long I have to wait till to know my order number? So that I can start to track it? Thanks |

You should have gotten a Vehicle Inquiry form with your build. At least I and a lot of other folks in the form did. The production number is listed at the top of the form. You can add the vehicle to My Garage by using the production number. There’s also a 1-800 number you can call to check as well.

I called the dealership and salesman told me it takes time for BMW processes and accepts the order, which is very common case. I just don't get it, how hard it will be to process an order electronically nowadays. : |

Sorry to say this, but your salesman is full of it. I got my order form with the build details and number while I was sitting at his desk when I placed my order. I ordered mine in late October, and had to wait until December for it to be built because some of the options I wanted weren't available until December, but I still got the form immediately.

This is from the SP:
"We will submit your build today and place it in our pipeline. Once the order has been accepted by the pipeline, it will prompt an estimated time of production date/week which will be in the next few days." It sounds right, doesn't it? Do you guys go thru same process too? Thanks |

I would go back ask them if they actually have an allocation and if so they should be able to give you the build week of that on the fly.

I was amazed how fast it got into the system. I checked My Garage an hour after I ordered at the dealer and it was already in there. The next day it got assigned a VIN and in the production queue.

Hmm, first time to know that there Is cap/quota for dealer to limit number of car they can order.
I'm in Bay Area, not sure if anyone faced same situation here? Thanks all for feedback, I will stop by dealership today. They should have told me directly instead of playing trick. |

I'm guessing shipping will take a couple weeks so if it's not delayed I could get it before the end of December. Like the others have said your dealer might not have any order allocations if you didn't get a production number. I'd check on that and maybe cancel if they don't. Try EastBay BMW, I got mine for $100 under invoice which works out to about 6.5% off MSRP. |

1) Website - register and then use your build number to register/add your vehicle to "My Garage". Once you begin the production phase, this site gets you your VIN and gives you your "current" status - which seems to not be current ever: https://securelogin.bmwusa.com/login? 2) Automated line - gets you similar info that the website can, but tells you your vehicle's expected completion day once you are in production: 800-831-1117 (Stay on the line and when the robot-voice asks you to tell it the reason for the call, say "vehicle production status". Say your production order number or partial VIN and it should tell you the estimated completion date). 3) BMW Genius - talk to a person...good for the most accurate current build week and current status but they never relayed the expected completion date: 844-443-6487 |

Dealers get a certain number of build "allocations" each month that they can use to slot and configure customer orders. Each allocation is for a given "build week". Higher volume dealers get more allocations. When all of a dealer's allocations are used for a given month, the dealer moves on to allocations for the next month - and so on.

On this topic, I just ordered today and got a production number for my garage. Most of the order is right but some things are missing.
Is that due to timing or did the dealer miss some things? |
