As of now, they are the same.
But, I notice that BMW is changing the exhaust manifold from external to internal design. That will apply on B58C engine.

So, it may or may not be the same when they change that.

Supersprint has downpipes for the 40i and 50i. Another member mentioned it I think. No other information on them tho like sound, performance, etc.

Link
https://www.supersprint.com/ww-en/sp...-with-opf.aspx

Use drop down menu to select 50i.

Awesome thanks for the feedback. I've been to two custom shops and they can do the straight pipes with no muffler but I don't want something that loud. I would really love to see the aftermarket community catch up!!!! lol

Honestly, I think a single 4" mid Pope would really boost sound. Had that in my f80 with stock muffler and It served the purpose of a full exhaust retaining valves and all. Along with some downpipes and It would sound like a beast. The question is who can do a single 4" out of a dual in a clean way? Active autowerke mid popes would be a good reference on how to build it right. It sounded amazing.

I will end up leaving the down pipes alone for awhile since the G05 is year 1 model and warranty work on turbo's would cause me pain if I do the DPs. As far as the flaps in the back they don't need to be there anyway at all. I'm really looking for cat back system. The resonator is what reduces sound and its even possible by just taking that out I will get the sound I want. At this time I am playing safe with mods till I get some miles down and confident about any warranty needs.

To the OP - Take it to a muffler shop and have the resonator in the midpipe cut out, and replaced with a straight pipe.

Not the cat, so it's legal. That will give you the crackles and pops you are looking for.

I've found a company called IPE (Innotech Performance Exhaust) which is out of Taiwan I believe according to their website. They are supposed to be releasing an exhaust system "soon" as per their website and per an employee I've had some messages with. I've never heard of them so I'm not sure how legit or credible this company is. On the surface, things appear to look legit but we'll see. They're supposed to contact me when production is done and they've priced it for the market.

I dont think the V8's have resonators in the midpipe, I believe its DP, straight tube to the mufflers

I just wish BMW would offer an M performance exhaust upgrade for 40i. Honestly surprised that they don't as it would definitely be purchased by a good amount of people who went with an M sport and are looking for a sportier sound.

It's a shame. People are doing aero kits etc but other than the ECU/Piggyback systems, there's no performance parts that i've heard of. I hope someone else has more knowledge to share if there are things in the pipeline. I would love for a simple intake/exhaust system and call it a day. Got 2 kids so can't go wild on it.

Did this change happen? I've got a Jan 2020 build 40i and hope the downpipe hasn't changed...

I believe they are the same downpipe still.
I can't personally confirm it since I haven't got G05 X5 customer that want to change the downpipe.

Not sure I moved on to the X5M Comp... There are exhaust for it, my money would say they might actually fit any of the V8 models.

Interested in vids when you get it installed. Also mind sharing the link (or PM) where you bought it from?
