remote 3d does work but is slow to load the images. you do not need to subscribe to any telcos.

it is pretty cool to move the images around and see what is around your vehicle. mine is in the valet parking at brisbane airport at the moment and i can see exactly how they parked it etc and what is beside it.

Picking up 3d MSport car this week. January build which has arrived earlier than expected.
Have gone through the pick-up check-lists on this forum. Any tips from the Aussie buyers here?
TBH - I am hoping to avoid many of the problems others seem to have been having on the forum......

Very jealous, is it a couple of weeks early? Mine is Feb build due end of April/early May.

I am glad to hear that. We had a Week 1 January build, so they were possibly on the same ship. I really hope ours is here this week.

I see you are from Melbourne, who is your dealer?

My m50d January build arrived in Melbourne on the 26th Feb and has apparently been with BMW Australia for the past 10 days. Should be at the dealer this week and hope to take delivery by the weekend. Getting very excited!

Mine was Jan 5 build but looking at the shipping website it hasn't even made it on there yet! Did you guys track your orders?

I tried to track my order for over a month with no success. When I called to see if I had the correct VIN number I was told the ship was docking in Melbourne that day. I never was able to track production or shipping. I was a bit irritated as I made a specific request to track these details when I ordered the car. Was given round about answers the entire time. Long story short it was a nice surprise. Now its been 2 weeks and after a lot of pushing and phone calls its confirmed for delivery this Friday.

I had a January week 3 Build, was completed on 20 January and I too couldn’t track. Called dealer for an update and he discovered that it had docked on the 28th of February. A bit annoyed as I too had asked and was promised a VIN as soon as available. Anyway, is meant to arrive at the dealer tomorrow per the prixcar tracker.

Mine also arrived in Melbourne Feb 26 on the ship. Must have only just made the ship from the US. Hoping to get this week but will have to chase them again for an update. Very poor communication from the dealer. My original sales guy resigned along with several others since buying in December!

Not expecting much love from the dealer - once they've made the sale - they don't seem to be interested. Only people calling from the dealer is the aftermarket lady wanting to flog me more overpriced stuff!

I've bought from 4 different dealers in Melbourne over the years and they've all had problems. I wish I could buy BMW's without getting involved with a dealer....

+1 re the after sales customer service. My wife and I have both commented that we feel like we’ve experienced better customer service when buying a $5 item off eBay than with BMW when spending well over 100k. Feel more like an inconvenience than a valued customer spending a small fortune on a ‘luxury’ brand.

Regarding the aftermarket stuff, I had to contact them regarding that, they had forgotten. And have been horrified at the pricing. I mean a thousand dollars for tinting??

I've just been told April 17 eta Melbourne on my 05/01/19 build date.

Seems much longer than everyone else here.

Took delivery of my m50d today! I have heaps to learn but thrilled with everything so far. The 418 motorized cargo cover works a treat. Love the Matt anthracite poplar wood trim. It was selected without physically seeing it and it looks and feels top notch. I will post pics soon.

Picked up my car today as well. 3dMSport
Asked for dealer's best Genius to walk me through and he spent 2 hours+ with me. He was very knowledgeable and reads this forum. Also works closely with the Mulgrave product manager - Ryan.
Best thing though was he was open and honest about the things that are working well and not so well yet.
Truly a refreshing experience. Asked me to record and report any software issues.

Confirmed several things I did not know about the car:

- latest Aussie s/w build is 11/2018.53 - we don't seem to be getting regular updates in Oz
- the driver attentive cameras are disabled in Australia due to 'privacy laws' here - how backward are our authorities when we are getting safety features turned off!
- cannot read texts or emails in Australia unless car is in park (undocumented)
- mobile screen mirror is disabled in Australia due to our road laws (bummer for Android users & undocumented)
- Cruise Control will not lower speed automatically with speed sign detection. All because Australian time-of-day dependant speed signs are not recognised
- hold voice button on steering wheel - activates google assist on your Android - so can bypass the still inferior BMW voice system
- wireless charger actually includes a wireless attenna booster as well (so not just a simple charger)
- Samsung S7 NFC won't open the car - need minimum S9
- BMW Australia now charging annual fees for Android NFC access - bummer new charge - suggest buyers negotiate into their purchase contract
- BMW dealer fitted ADR towbar deletes the trunk kick function (opposite of what they told me in December)
- Traffic info from SUNA is routed to Munich servers and then back to cars in Australia!
- piano black is stunning - fingerprints ok (had to order sight unseen like others last year - and glad I didn't order grain finish)
- rear seat leather had minor wrinkles but acceptable
- fuel filler cap alignment was fine

will provide photos later

Hope this list helps other Aussie buyers

Picked up mine this morning. Everything seems to be working perfectly, no issues as reported elsewhere. Connected drive took some time to sync but once I logged out and back in, all was fine. Will have to go back to get the NFC card connected, the Genius didn’t have time this morning.
