You can get the performance steering wheel tho.

Whhhhhaaaaaattttttt theeeeee actualll fhuuuuuk

BMW knocked the tail and the interior out of the park....the front end is downright hideous. Looks like they squashed the Active Tourer....

BMW BETTER get the G80 right. Otherwise I'm keeping my F80 and moving to Porsche...this kills me to say because I'm an AVID BMW lover but man have they lost their way recently

If they don't they'll be making a stupid decision. The only good press these days that they get if from the 2 series/M2 and its basically their halo car right now. They need to keep the coupe RWD, w/ an inline 6, and a manual.

The 2 series is the only reason I currently have a bimmer in the garage, so I hope the coupe keeps its winning formula, otherwise, I guess I'll be jumping ship!
Where would you go? Porsche, Mustang, Camaro, challenger, and BRZ are the only options I can think of. I'm stuck unable to afford a Porsche, not trusting American built cars, and not willing to take such a drastic power loss on the brz/frs
I would happily go back to Porsche, loved my Boxster in the short time I had it (was my father-in law's who wanted out of his lease), and I'm a big fan of Mercedes' current full fledged AMG and AMG-Lite vehicles, and even a used ATS-V (one of my favorite high-performance compact cars), so for me at least, options are still there, BMW isn't the only choice.

Not that I don't agree with you, I held out replacing my E46 330Ci ZHP until I drove the M240i ... but I'm afraid we're a dying breed. They made this car because of the 70,000 Audi A3's and Mercedes CLA's getting sold every year in U.S. Look at the sales numbers for the RWD 2 series last year they didn't sell 10,000 of them, and I bet outside the US very few were the M240. Heck I had to special order mine because they simply weren't making any M240 manuals and shipping them. Simply put, no one is beating down their doors for RWD with a I6 and manual.

Yes, the M2 gets good press, but not sure how many units sold that translates into ... I do see a lot more M4s on lots than M2s. Whether or not it translates into sales, everyone talking about wanting a M2 seems to have kept the next version of the coupe RWD - we can just hope you can still get the M240i with a B58 variant and a manual, but may just be the M2.

What I'm saying is that they can't make cars to please purists if it doesn't translate into sales. I think people would be less upset if they would have not called this a 2 at all and kept that moniker for the RWD coupe only. Honestly if you want a 4 door folks should get a 340.

I'm fine with them making a FWD sedan for sales, but I doubt a FWD coupe would garner any more sales for them over the current 2er, so I would hope they at least with the tiniest bit of their heart left they have for the enthusiasts that they keep the coupe RWD. Its hard to be an optimist for BMW in its current state, but I'm hoping.

M340i doesn't excite me, if I needed a compact 4-door with an auto, I'd get a C43 or lease a Giulia.

A stylistic car. It's a baby 8 GC.

What's with all the hate?

Imagine your a smaller individual this will be a nice car. Smaller form factor with the BMW brand.

Nicely spec, this is a solid ride. It's fits the new design language. Has the updated BMW tech.

I feel this is for the ladies and young crowd.

This is the direction. At least it doesn't have that snout of a grill from the concept 4.

Save those remarks for that car. I too don't agree with that.

Someone already said this in the other thread, but feel like this dumpy car will make mine comparatively appreciate in value.

Thanks god the coupe will remain RWD biased.

is it just me or the rear looks like a squished X4?

The 2GC looks even bulkier in comparison than my 5GT. I admit the 5GT is bit chunky (especially stock, it's chubby), but the long wheelbase definitely helps the proportions a bit. The new 2GC just looks stubby and narrow, as if someone squeezed in all four sides of the car a bit.

Honestly shocked, considering BMW put out something as sleek as the new M8
GC yet something as pudgy and short as this. Also, the design language doesn't give off a very BMW vibe for some reason. Remove the kidneys and badge and one could pull it off as something else.

It's a nice looking little car, but I wish the grills were fashioned more like the 4 series concept. It's a little vanilla as is. It needs more swagger.

I mean, I prefer my M240i but my partner really prefers a 4 door and care less if it's FWD or RWD. For folks that are looking for an entry level BMW sedan, I think it does fill the bill. I can see a lot of people buying it, but will have competition.

I'm really curious to drive it to see how it handles.

Is anyone else a little annoyed that this isn't a lift back like the 4GC? Honestly that was the only reason I was waiting for it.

But both are above this car, C43 or current 3 series are not really compact by the old day standard

I was replying to his final sentence in the post, talking about going for a 340 if you wanted 4-doors and RWD. Even though they aren't compact in my eyes, they are still considered compact cars by classification, while the 2er is sub-compact.
