Don't forget the X5 has brake by wire so it may feel a bit different than traditional vacuum assisted setups you've driven for potentially several decades. If ASS is on it might be part of the shutdown too, although I think the mild hybrid made it smoother.

New to X5 (and BMW) and I seem to have an opposite issue..
I am still in week 1 of MY2022 X5 401i. When I brake at low speed, the braking is smooth, but I feel the car takes a bit longer to fully stop…for example, the other day I crossed the stop line by a foot or two.. I am still under 100 miles. It this just about being used to X5 braking or more? |

Here's what the manual says: "Brake discs and brake pads only reach their full effectiveness after approx. 300 miles/500 km. Drive moderately during this break-in period." Since you're still under 100 miles, maybe that's why it doesn't feel quite right? |

I have the same thing with my brand new 2024 X5 xDrive 40i (with M Sport package). I find it a bit annoying and kind of a negative point for the overall very lux driving comfort.
I never had this issue on my prior X5s, X3s and 3 series. |
