Spotify and carplay

Ok so some of this may be resolved with IOS13, really I just want Spotify integration, I can't really see any other real advantages unless people say otherwise, shame BMW use deezer instead of Spotify out the box. Perhaps a few text/whatsapp messages. but are folks having issues with the following with Carplay:

No connection available even though iPhone shows blue icon up top left
Random Disconnections
Black screen in Spotify app
Doesn't resume playing when you turn off engine and come back 2 mins later (biggest gripe).

Anyone else having problems or resolutions?

Hi, I’m struggling with the resume issue, sometimes it works but mostly don’t. It is not dependent how long I’m away from the car, but I would say 3 out of 5 times music does not resume. Even more disturbing that CarPlay does kill the radio as well in most cases, so start engine, radio is on, CarPlay starts up and radio is muted and “no source” is written in the dashboard.

On the other hand no connection and black screens are gone (did a Idrive reset) and random disconnects are rare and mainly complete CarPlay disconnects and restarts not Spotify specific as I observed...

The fastest way to deal with this is to do a "Wifi Toggle"
This method was originally posted by mrichione.

Go to Com->Mobile Device. Move controller to right to select "Settings", then toggle WiFi off first, and then toggle it back on.
While you are highlighting the WiFi settings above, you can set a preset for it (just press and hold a preset button you want to program until you hear a beep).
Next time, you simply press the preset button to toggle off, wait a bit and press it again to toggle on. So just two presses for your CarPlay to reconnect.

As far as random disconnect - I do not get that. My connection is usually solid until I leave the car.
Black screen with any app is usually an app problem/bug.
