Mine says installed version03/2019.44 and no upgrades available! Am I going to have to take it in to a dealer when I want to upgrade software?

I asked my dealer about this update today. They said they have tried on 3 vehicles and on all three the headunits bricked. Two recovered after a higher intervention from BMW. One they are still trying to figure out.

Guess I'll wait. I wish they could get this all sorted out and fix all the various bugs in iDrive 7. Makes me appreciate my 540 with iDrive 6 even more.

This is crazy!!! My car was bricked after its first software update back in January. Took three weeks to get back running again. I guess this is why they haven't pushed updates out.

I really wonder if there are 3 vehicles that were bricked. ...I have found the service depts are reluctant to do software updates even if they are available. I dont know if it is just not worth their time or if they fear messing things up and getting more complaints. Maybe it is both.

I had my software updated to 7/2019.39 today to address the intermittent CarPlay issues. So far, I have not seen any of the issues that others have experienced with the 07/2019 version, but I haven't checked all the different functions yet to see if something was broken. Keeping my fingers crossed.

It's too early to tell if the update addressed the CarPlay issues since CarPlay sometimes worked flawlessly for a couple of days even with the old version 3/2019.46.

I’m pretty sure they were telling the truth. The advisor called the foreman on the phone when I was there to inquire, as he wasn’t aware there was a new July version. I heard his end of the conversation and he said, “Oh, wow.” He then told me what the foreman said about the 3 cars they had attempted and said it was up to me if I wanted to do it. They would have done so. Taking my family on vacation next week in the car, so decided to wait. Don’t need more trouble. It’s buggy now, but I know what to expect, at least.

They really need to get this stuff figured out.

As an aside, more detail on the cluster map would be a welcome enhancement. The map there is basically useless in most circumstances at this point.

Does anybody have something showing that there is a software update so I can show to my dealer? They're saying they can't find any update available for my car...

Request to have a key check and the printout will show that there is a software available for upgrade.

Just got my X5 back from service yesterday with the 7/2019.39 update. Lots of changes to the UI. Menus, like the data privacy menu, are different. The maps in the HUD and instrument cluster are more detailed. Icons updated under the Apps menu. The BMW Assistant listening screen is different, the graph that moves around while you talk is now the BMW M colors. I've noticed some icons have moved in the HUD, like the green cruise control icon. They've put a lot of work into it. Just wish I had those new apps, caring car, experience modes, and climate rules.

Haven't had it long enough to tell if any of the driving assistant services are any better. It handled well in traffic this morning with driving assist enabled.

I'm hoping the software resolved the BC button lock up issue and the erroneous Sirius subscription warning message.

They replaced my wireless charging pad and that fixed the Apple Pay popping up issue.

Most of my presets remained, but I needed to go to the remote start menu under climate and accept the warning message to re-enable it. I also will need to recode to turn off auto stop start. My seating preferences were wiped, so had to set them back up.

Our X5 is still on November 2018 I believe. BMW's official response to my question about OTA updates was "Vehicle software updates are being rolled out to VINs across the country. You will receive a notification on your BMW Connected app when it's available for your X5." blah blah blah.

It took them 3 days to get it. Not sure where it came from. Normally they say when it has to come from Germany, so I'm assuming USA. Attached is the section of my service invoice that deals with the tray. I have the heated and cooled cup holders.

Gesture control is working, I've used mute and take me home gestures since the update.

Well...well...well... a few days after the update and more things are appearing...

New features: Caring Car, Experience Modes, Climate Rules, and Personal Assistant settings like enabling passenger detection to disable text message pop ups.

Compared to the 3/2019 version I was on, this July update was big.

ok waited long enough, going in next week for the first oil change (car was new in December, running 2018.11.48 software, so going to have them do the oil change and update to july and see how it goes, lots of little bugs I do experience, gotten good at ignoring most.
