Request for real life pictures, Individual Fineline Cross Black Aluminum Inserts Trim

Would anyone please post real-life pictures and opinions, if they find the Individual Fineline Cross Black Aluminum Inserts Trim on a real vehicle? This is new for MY2020 in the X5 and X7. A $1080 "Individual" trim option.

So far, what we have for pictures are a couple pre-production test mules, and an old press release. In those, the aluminum part of the trim really pops out, and the trim looked a bit garish.

The only other pics we have so far are from the G07 and G05 online configurators. In these pictures, the aluminum looks a bit more subdued. Comparing the G05 and G07 BMW USA configurators, the G07 looks more subdued than the G05.

Would really like to see what the final production looks like. I like that it adds a bit of sportiness to the trims, while hopefully keeping a classy look with the wood. But I'm worried about the final result being garish and ugly. Unless I'm able to find one in person before I place my order, (likely months away) I'll have to rely on pictures here.

Help, please?

Here's the G07 online configurator pic:

And an old pre-production test mule snippet pic, the G05 configurator pic, and an old press release pic:

I agree, it does look pretty bad, especially on that later pics you posted.

This could be an interesting trim if you are able to see the wood strips, but I think it will probably just look solid with the aluminum cross-hatch. The dealer sample of this doesn't look good - I have seen it - but those trim samples are not the real thing. This is very much one that must be seen in real life. No way I would order without seeing it.

TJ_BMW That is just too funny.

I cross posted the same request in the X7 forum, somebody there found this video. The reviewer throws the camera around like he has ADD or Parkinson's disease, but there's lots of looks at the Cross Black Aluminum Insert trim. I'd still like to see actual production real-world pictures in the wild and hear opinions. This reviewer seemed favorable on it.

I think that this is the ONLY BMW for sale in the USA that has it.... In most cases, this option is only going to be on cars ordered by customers. So unique, do see many dealers bringing in units with it for general sale.

https://www.bmwofgrapevine.com/new/B...40485011cb.htm

Unfortunately the dealership hasn't posted any real world pics yet. It might still be in transit....

I think it's Piano Black or bust, the Black Cross just looks too much like the texture on metal stairs.... Since I don't want to wait till 12/19 SOP on the X6 for Piano Black, I'm going with Dark Aluminum Mesh, and if I feel like it, can buy the Piano Black panels as parts later on if I really want it.. Would probably only do the front and not the 2 pieces in the rear. Would still be close to the $1080 price (though would need to install them, nothing like taking a hammer and screwdriver on a $100k car!)

Wow, good find, thanks! I'll actually be in the DFW area in 3 weeks--if that car hasn't sold yet, I'll go take a look

Of course. No guarantees it will still be there in 3 weeks, but we'll see. Anybody else in the greater DFW area, that might be able to go check out that vehicle?

BMW if Grapevine is a little shady sometimes. I initially ordered my X5 through them but withdrew it when they tried to pull a bait and switch. I don't see an issue checking out the trim there just wanted to mention how I'm not a fan of their sales side

I like the look, but not for $1k. I don't understand why it would be more expensive than other aluminum trim.

As for the video, what color is the interior leather? It looks red to me, but I didn't think that was an option.

The white balance is off in the video, white is slightly pink on the iDrive map, so everything looks too red. Also, the seats have two-color leather but only Ivory White / Midnight Blue is available outside trade shows.

It's not aluminum, it's fine matte wood with cross metal insert which is more complex to manufacture compared to just sheet of patterned aluminum or veneer of wood.

The interior is ZAHW Amarone/Black extended Merino interior which has slipped to SOP 04/20 (start of production)

Thanks. I'm targeting spring of 2020 to order an X5, so that would work out well for me.
