Mind asking what you paid? I've never really followed Porsche, beautiful, might consider it as a summer toy.

I didn't want any regrets, so I paid a little more but glad I got the one I was looking for. the original MSRP was $82,930 so I was happy with the price.
had a great service record and brand new P-Zero tires and new brake pads also came with a 90 day 3000 mile warranty.

I don't think that's a bad price at all. It seems the prices have come down these since I looked at the beginning of last year, right before I picked up the 135i. I might revisit one of these again next fall.

You got the exact options I would get expect the wheels.

Had a '14 also but with a 6spd. One of the best cars i ever owned. With the mid-engine the handling was amazing. Good Luck. Just keep up the maintenance for resale value.

Nice, looks just my dearly departed 2012. Check out the GTS taillights, they are a fairly cheap mod and make the rear end look a lot better IMO

Beautiful car, I considered a similarly looking 2016 GTS with PDK and took a weekend to consider it. I decided to keep waiting for the C8, but we also have a very fun 718 so felt like I wasn’t missing much.

Funny thing, my first mod was removing the mod the previous owner did and took off the tint from the tail lights and side markers....It was the only thing I didn't like about the car, but knew it was an easy fix.

I was ecstatic when I peeled the tint off the side markers and found out they were the clear corners and just about did a back flip when I peeled the tint off the tail lights and discovered it had the GTS tail lights!!!

Have no idea why the previous owner would tint them? But it sure was fun discovering the car was even better than I thought!

Looks sooooo much better! I hate tinted tail lights, they look so cheap/tacky imo.

This thread has peaked my interest in a Cayman GTS but there are too many options on a Porsche for me to find exactly what I want in a used car. So the only way I would get one is a custom order and those are pretty expensive.

I shopped for eight months before I found the one I wanted to buy.
Make a list of your must-have features & be willing to travel, and you'll find what you want eventually.

I went the GTS route instead of a 981 S because of the difficulty with finding the right options in a used car. With the GTS you get all of the must-have performance options (PASM/X73, PSE, Sport Chrono). It made the search much easier.

I found exactly what I wanted but couldn't stomach the money even though it was priced fairly. Could be waiting years to find it again.

I got lucky and found one with my main must haves...
X73 suspension was the hard one....once I found one with that with my other must haves at a price that was right I was on a one way flight the next day.
If I had the money I would probably get the GTS, but My Cayman S is about a PSE short of a GTS basically and I saved about $20k from the next best priced 981 GTS

I think the 981 version with the NA flat six is the one to have personally compared to the newer 718 with the 4 pot turbo... apparently they stopped making the base, S and GTS versions for the US so the only one you can spec and order now is the GT4 and the Spyder.

I would suggest test driving both of them back to back

Like I said, I narrowed my must haves to like 5 things
(color, x73, SD steering wheel, sport Chrono, 20" Carrera S wheels)
and the rest was gravy.

Honestly, the hunt is half the fun....and the best time to buy a car is when you really don't need the car. You can be picky and have the time to find a great deal...by the end of a month or two you'll know what a great deal is when you see it.

The Silver one I passed up on is a great deal if it is still available... it had all the right options. 2014 Cayman S Silver on blue loaded 30k miles with a $82,360 msrp
He is asking $44,900 it is in Huntington Beach Ca

It is on car gurus but easier to contact through his CL ad.

I like my cars basically fully loaded and there's only been one Cayman/Boxster GTS that's close to what I want since I've been paying attention since the last year. This car would almost be perfect except I don't want ceramic brakes and I'm not a fan of the turbo wheels. $112,620 original MSRP

100%, the 4 cyl Turbo is faster off the line and at low revs, but doesn't sound anywhere near as good and is frankly a little boring compared to the flat 6. I've had a few as service loaners.

Congrats bro. Looks clean. I test drove a 2006 cayman S before my cousin decided to buy it. This thing is like glue on the road.

so ever since you posted your interest in a Porsche 981 I've been researching what kind of Porsche I would like and didn't realize how many they have. is the 718 basically the same body style as the 981 cause they look identical. and also i'm learning now that the 981 has the flat 6 whereas the 718 has the 4 banger?

how are you loving the car now...still the same since you last posted?

718 is an update to the 981. It was changed from a flat 6 to turbo 4. It gained torque and generally makes more power, but some people complain about the exhaust note.

Also, people on Rennlist are saying that next year the 718 GTS will be changed to a detuned flat 6 GT4 engine. That would make the GTS slower than the S which is odd but I guess some people love the exhaust note.

Watched a couple of reviews and some have mentioned to almost sounding like a Subaru below I think 5k rpms but after that sounds really nice. I did listen to a few exhaust upgrades like Armytrix and Inotech which both sound very nice. I'm still learning more about the engine base vs the S. Looks like a difference of 50hp?
