X5 50e vs X5 x40i Wheels

Does anyone know why the 22" M Double-spoke black wheels are an option on the cheaper 40i but not on the more expensive 50e? For some reason the 50e only offers 21" wheels, why aren't the 22's an option?

22" wheels have never been offered on the 45e or 50e. Many theories why, I think the most prevalent is that it is due to the lack of 22" run flats and no space for a spare.

Its an option in Europe. Also 40i is way more expensive than 50e in most countries here due to taxes

Yes, referring to US availability.

The retractable gooseneck towing package sold outside of North America for the most part versus the square receiver sold here have different load capacities, and it may mean a problem finding tires with the proper load rating in the desired sizes.

And, 22” XH rated tires in RFT configuration seems to be really hard to find, if you can at all. Some may like ‘regular’ tires with no room for a spare on the PHEV, but it may be a problem in some markets…the mobility kit can’t fix all leaks, and you’re much more likely to become stranded. Note, if you live around where there are long bridges or tunnels, it’s often illegal to stop except at designated pullover lanes, and driving a ‘normal’ tire that is flat can be not only dangerous, but likely to damage a wheel and sometimes suspension parts as well until you can get to a safe area to pull over…a RFT normally doesn’t have that problem. You likely would only need a new tire, not a tire/wheel, and suspension repairs if you drove on it flat.

Thanks again. I did not know there are 22” RFTs available. Dealer only offered NRFT for 22. Many Europe US differences dont make sense to me.

Thanks! I didn't realize I couldn't get the run flats in a 22. Yeah, I am happy with the 21's then however I really wish they had a all black option.
