"Hey BMW, call..." Issues
Hi,
Anyone know how to get this thing to call someone using voice commands without manually having to go into Apple Car Play and click some more to get Siri to do it? In my e70 I could just click the mic button the the wheel and say, call xxxxx and it would call them. When I do "Hey BMW call xxx" I get a message that this is not supported by my phone. Using an iPhone X.

If you hold the mic button down for about 3 seconds, it will skip the iDrive voice command system and use Siri. Same as F15. At least, I think this will work -- I don't use CarPlay, but it works fine with iDrive -- but I don't know if CarPlay hijacks this somehow.

Not specific to phone calls, but the systems response always interrupts my inquiry/instruction.
As an example, if i say "Hey BMW, show me the nearest Starbucks", as I'm saying "show me", she's saying something (I can't hear) like "how can I help you?". Perhaps I'm supposed to say "Hey BMW" then wait for her to answer and then finish the inquiry/instruction? |
