BMWCCA sent me an email back. They are basically saying they do not set the rules for the rebate and note their website says BMWNA can change the rules at any time. I cannot argue what they are saying, but I can state that is no way to treat new or returning CCA members.

I personally will never join BMWCCA again. I followed their rules. I ordered within the time period that they teamed up with BMWNA to offer the rebate. I have paid BMW the deposit for my vehicle. I can't control when BMW can finish and deliver my vehicle, therefore I should get the rebate if I ordered within the eligible period. To change the rules while customers are waiting for delivery is shady and dishonest. If they are comfortable with this they they are as equally culpable as BMWNA.

So is it 100% confirmed that as of Jan 1st 2020 BMWNA is changing the rules? No grace period what so ever? Do they have the exact term changes yet?

Well, try and submit anyway and see what happens. I agree, this is a $hitty business practice even if they want to pass the buck to BMWNA for what THEY state on THEIR website...or email, in my case.

I actually just re-upped, after not being a member for a few years, to a 3 year on Friday per an email discount code I received from BMWCCA claiming the same benefits. It also states member fees will be going up in Feb 2020. I may get back into a BMW sometime next summer, so I would probably meet the new 6 month guidelines, anyway. That said, it would definitely sour me on the Club if they pulled something like this for this scenario and one follows the rules only to be told in essence, "too bad". It's the principle more than anything, IMHO. I know, I know, BMWNA...

MB Club America offers a $500, but you have to be a consecutive member for 12 months. Although, if you bought/have an AMG, they offer $500 immediately through their Private Lounge.

Even better, try and befriend an employee of a German make, I hear the friends/family discount is ~20% off...you don't need no stinking $500.

When and how could BMWNA implement their new rebate policy?? At some point someone isnt getting a rebate. How do you address this line in the sand? It isn’t CCA’s fault as the rebate is a “courtesy“. CCA is a BMW enthusiast club. The club doesn’t want people jumping in and out just for the rebate when they want to buy a new car.

There are no promo codes for membership. The 3 year membership price has been $134 for around for the past 3 years or more.

Awesome news and that's exactly what I was talking about. Most reputable companies do this. There is no exact right or wrong, it's just customer oriented policies.

Thanks archer99!

I just wrote BMWCCA and received this explanatory reply.. .. like it or not, here it is.. ..

From: "Rewards@bmwcca.org" <rewards@bmwcca.org>
Subject: Re: Membership Reward Rebate Program
Date: December 23, 2019 at 10:30:57 AM EST
To:

The new rule starts 1/1/2020. You would buy a 3 year membership and qualify after you have completed 6 months of that membership...meaning if you purchased a 3 year membership on 1/1/2020, you have to buy the car on or after 7/1/2020 to qualify.

If you purchase a 3 year membership prior to 12/31/2019, you are grandfathered in will not have the waiting period. So if you are purchasing a new car between 1/1/2020 and 7/1/2020, I would advise you to purchase a 3 year membership NOW.
Thanks,
BMW CCA

I can add a confirmation to the above. Just got off the phone with Michelle in the reward rebate program. She advised me that a 3 year membership purchased this month will be grandfathered into getting the immediate rebate. The program will change 1/1/20 to require a 6 month wait to be eligible. Exactly how they should handle. My guess waking up on Jan 1 will see the changes on the BMWCCA website.
Great news!!

I had a promo code to rejoin for 3 years at a discount, but it expired this past Friday the 20th. I believe it was $126 plus $5 S/H for the BMW badge.

I'm so glad I revisited this thread. Like you, I'm also expecting a feb delivery and I bought my membership in early december just in case. I'm so happy they're doing right by us.

I updated the first post, but you make a great point. I will make the change now. Thoughts on the change? I still think this is an important threat to read for customers waiting.

Nice, glad you got in before the change, too. Now we just have to wait for our cars.

EDIT:

I was about to rant before I read the last posts. The grandfathering is the right thing to do and keeps their current info on their website accurate. If they change the terms on the website after 12/31, everything is OK.

Great news indeed. And the right thing to do. I didn’t pay $5 for S/h for the badge but did buy the membership last week and am looking forward to being a member, receiving the rebate and overall being a part of the CCA community.
