What's this SCR Regen in Carly?

Carly is now offering an SCR regen in-app purchase. What is this and why would I want it?

It may be advantageous to trigger a regen e.g., when you have been doing a lot of short trips and the vehicle temp does not stay high long enough to trigger one, or even when you are going to yank the DPF and want it cleaned out first. I would be careful using iCarly for anything more complicated that coding out the seat belt chime. Come to think of it, that involved the FRM I probably would not even do that.

This is separate from the DPF Regen. It is for the SCR. What could that be?

Interesting. Wonder if the SCR is setup to take advantage of what's described here: https://www.dieselnet.com/tech/cat_nox-trap.php

In active NOx adsorbers, stored NOx is periodically released—with a typical frequency of about once per minute—during a short period of rich air-to-fuel ratio operation, called NOx adsorber regeneration.

Interesting indeed. Best answer I've found yet. I can't imagine what Carly would do to force a regen. Seems like a DPF regen would provide rich conditions and high temperatures to the SCR.

I had my SCR cleaned at a shop manually with solvents. It costs a pretty penny.
So the ability to do so with the app might be a better route. Not sure how it would work, if it is similar to DPF regeneration or not.
