Towing with brake controller

Anyone here towing with a brake controller? I would be looking to tow a car/ enclosed trailer @ 7000lbs. It seems that BMW will support (with an option) that just wondering about the 7pin/controller setup being used by drivers? I am considering a B58 motor X Drive.

Yes. I tow a campervan of approx 1250kg. I use the 7 pin plug. I think it is a redarc controller (aftwr market obviously) and there is a small dial in the driver footwell to change the force applied. Once I set it up I have never had to change it.

You will have to make your own wiring harness...

Thank you. I ordered the ECS plug and wires. Where is the plug under the dash?

The plug under the dash is super easy to get to. Just remove that cover by the brake and gas pedal. Your find the connector on the far left side close to firewall.

I used a red arc brake controller because it is smaller and come from my E70.
