The part no is 31-10-6-884-584. It is the same for the left and right.
Just checked under my car and I don't have those sound absorbers installed. See pictures... is this a part that was supposed to be installed on all X5s from the factory? If so, looks like you may have found the culprit.

MISSING on my X5 too. Just had a look. How about them apples.
Amazing if that little bolt on piece can dampen the vibration sound.
Thanks for posting the pic.

It doesn't take much to change the resonate frequency, which is all its doing. Clever and inexpensive and most likely reduces the sound just enough to be acceptable without negative impacts upon handling, engineering redesign and manufacturing costs.

Can anyone confirm they had these sound absorbers installed from the factory? Interested to see if those not complaining about the tire/road noise actually have them.

Stopped by my Santa Monica lot and looked under a New on the lot... 2020 X5 and X7 and BOTH cars had the dampener attached. How about them apples. Apparently someone at the factory forgot to bold it on our cars I suspect. I'm going to get mine installed next week and will let you know the results. Its easy to spot... just stick your head or iPhone under and snap a shot.

Unbelievable! 😤

What's worse is that I had my car taken in and they even had the regional bmw USA guy look at it and this was completely overlooked!

I ended up ordering those parts myself today bc they were only $100 and I didn't want to wait the likely several days it would've taken the dealer to get the parts and fix the problem. Just don't want to be out of my car again. But I will be giving them a call and giving them a piece of my mind!

Went out and took a quick photo of the front right suspension on my Nov 2019/week 45 build, 2020 40i M Sport with air suspension and 20" wheels.

Confirming both front left/right wishbone vibration absorbers were installed from the factory and for 20" wheels.

Thanks for posting the pic.
Another instance where vibration dampers change the resonate frequency. Without these little rubber inserts, the cylinders will sing and it can be annoying.

Pic from my M50i with Pirelli's 22 from Factory - Sept build. They are there... no complaints with the ride.

Yep! Same thing with my October 2019 built 2020 X7. I sincerely hope that BMW redesigns this for the upcoming 2021 vehicles.

This looks like a part that will deteriorate over time and will have to be replaced. Cheap part but what do you suppose the labor cost is to have it replaced?

Just a simple bolt and nut, so it should be an easy diy

I dont think these will deteriorate too bad. The biggest enemy to rubber is sunlight. So unless things have gone terribly awry, they should never see the light of day. And since this part doesn't have to go under any repetitive cycles, you don't have to worry about fatigue. The only failure mechanism that I can envision is the rubber literally crumbling away from environmental impacts. That could take well over 10 years.

This makes some sense with the 22” wheel owners. These 22” wheels are running soft summer tires that give them the quietest rubber compound possible.
My 20” wheels on my X5 50M-Sport is by far the most comfortable and quietest riding vehicle ever taken on our long cross country family trips. This is on hard run flat tires. I am comparing it to Audi A8, RR, etc... I can’t imagine how much quieter it might be if I used a ultra soft quiet tires.

Could be that if a car has 22" wheels from the factory then it will have those dampers.

If the car got the option afterwards then it may not have them.

Or maybe some 'Murican forgot to install them lol.

My 320 has those dampers which I find weird with 17" wheels. I might remove them and see what happens.

Santa Monica CA BMW, 2020 X5 40i on 21" rims with dampener installed. Also checked under the X7 and also same set up with dampener. Proof positive that someone, somewhere along the line forgot to bold them on a lot of our cars!

Every size wheel is to have them in every trim/engine.

I just looked on a X5 30d with 22" LA Wheel V-Spoke 746I (prod. date 2018-09-17) and I do see the damping block.

It’s clearly not the problem for me. I have the dampeners and they aren’t the reason my continentals are loud.
