Not age, competence. I know plenty of inept 30 y/o drivers, as well. Now, about that car.

Well, if they are inept at 30 then they shouldn't be driving either, right?

Oh I responded to your inquiry about the fate of my poor car but I didn't quote you, so it must have gotten lost in the dad talk. Lol.

Much more fun to plan a vacation than a wedding and with all of the weddings I have been to no question I would rather spend 10 days in Hawaii over 4 hours at a wedding.
Damn i think my flowers alone were 8k and boy do i regret it. You made a smart choice.

Lightweight and super strong don't work well together in terms of durability. Only wheels that last the length of time you are talking about are the heavy stockers with a good amount of sidewall. Track or any lightweight wheels are meant for smooth surfaces not potholes. Ive destroyed many forged lightweight wheels and fast. My stock 20s plow through the streets of NYC like soldiers. Forged wheels are more likely to crack than bend which sucks for repairs. Ive purchased and replaced barrel after barrel.

I like the wheel you are choosing but i would go another route if your'e looking for a wheel thats going to last many years. IMHO no wheel is expected to last more than a few years and especially larger diameter wheels running lower profile tires to compensate the wheel height difference. AGs will bend. Ive had great success with BBS cast wheels. Very strong.

I can see you know your stuff im just sharing my experience with light weight wheels.

You got hosed. We paid for our license, 50 bucks or whatever had our own minister. Flowers done by mother law free. Photographer can't recall but cheap. Only real expense was after dinner we paid for.

Much appreciated, I love to hear people's stories and experiences so that I can learn from them one of the main reasons I'm on BP. If someone knows something I don't and it's helpful to me I appreciate them telling me so thank you

I'd say spend what you can afford on the wedding, have a nice holiday/honeymoon. As far as the ring goes, you might want to go on the cheap now, but assume your marriage lasts and 20 years now you want your wife to be wearing a ring that you can still be proud of. Don't buy something trendy now, something that suits her style and personality and that you can be proud of in the future.

Also not every guy is going to add in the cost of the ring to their combined bills etc. some may keep it separate as they purchased it for their significant other and they recipient should not have to pay.
I guess I never understood the process of keeping all of the money separate when legally everything is jointly owned. Then, if 50/50 but one makes more than the other not sure how this works. When it is time to make a big purchase I don't understand what happens when one of the two has no savings because they have spent it all. Once you start running budgets jointly and one has input into how the other spends "their money" you are back to making joint financial decisions and it seems pointless.

When they go on vacation do they split the bills?

Our was on the beach in Maui, and didn't involve my mother in law at all, these alone were worth the extra money. She was happy with everything and no chance the local marriage in Ohio could have matched the beach wedding and based on other weddings I have been to we were massively below the average.

Technically any assets and debts brought into the marriage belong to the person that brought it into the marriage. Whether you won a million bucks in the lottery or you owe a million bucks going into the marriage, that's yours alone and your spouse doesn't get half a million bucks nor does she have to pay half a million if you get divorced.

Once you're married it's a different story when it comes to money made while you're married or debts incurred while you're married, unless you have a prenup.

I'll never have joint finances again, it cost me way too much in my last divorce.

My $0.02:

1. If diamonds aren't rare, go find your own and cut it with precision
2. However much you spend, it's spread across a lifetime (presumably, unless you get divorced then you should just get it back and sell it to recoup the cost). So if I spend $15k and I'm married for 50 years, that's a small price to pay for a lifetime of happiness.
3. I don't even want to know what a $1000-2500 ring looks like.. a Cracker Jack toy?

Dude! I was on the waiting list for an M2 and dealers across the nation are haggling! Like, $10-15K atop MSRP WTF! So I said screw that and switched my deposit to place an order for an F80.

Needless to say, I'm much happier now. And it will NOT be receiving any sort of ridiculous stance treatment. The 335i actually didn't last very long in this stage.

Since you probably hadn't seen her since you rolled her fenders many years ago. Had some bubble lipped RS's built and ran them for a couple months before I got tired of not being able to drive normally.

Should have taken picture with owner. With that kind of aesthetic taste, she was probably pretty.
